What V8 would you stick in your rx7?
 

I am not here to be flaunted by the piston haters, I dont know if i could drop a V8 in my own vehicle, but lets say rotaries were illegal for some dumb reason, what V8 would you stick in your car?

I would love to see someone stick a 4.0 or 3.5 land/range rover v8 and build it up with some non sequential twins.

Or does anyone know of any other smaller displacement v8's that could be available? maybe say a 3.0 v8?

I don't see why you'd use a Rover V8 when we've got LS1's sitting around and all of the GM crate engines. More performance, easier to find parts, sounds awesome.

I'd actually like a turbo 2.0L I-4. That way you can get decent gas milage, and some power when you want it.

Even if an LSx swap would be easier, if i had to swap in another engine, it would be a 2JZ or RB.

if you want a v8 get a vette, they are nice cars. ill never get you swappers.

I'll never put a v8 or piston motor into my car but I was replying to the "if i had to statement". And this thread was in general automotive first but got moved.....

If we wanted a Vette, we'd have bought one. Many of us have dead RX7s that need a heart transplant, and it's cheaper/simpler/more reasonable to build up what we have than scrap the dead car and get something else.

Secondly, the RX7 as a CAR is more than just it's engine. It's a lighter, better built, and for many of us, better looking car than the Corvette and especially the F body cars. I've never understood how people like YOU can't see THAT set of facts.

In my price range, I would have had to have bought a much worse condition early C4 Vette, and they simply aren't very well built cars in comparison to even the 2nd gen RX7. My completed, converted RX7 wth full interior only weighed 2720lbs. That's 300 lbs lighter than a C4 Vette, but with better torsional rigidity, less rattles, better ergonomics and build quality, suspension that was at least as good if not much better, and I thought it looked vastly better than the Corvette. I also already had the car and had invested into the suspension to make it an autocrosser. AND it was worth almost nothing as a non-runner when it died, even with the money invested into the suspension and paint. So it made a lot of sense to build IT up the way I wanted.

Exactly what I'm putting into it... an LS2 with a T56 combo (should be in the 450 whp range).

LS7 to start, but since I hate american waste of displacement, I'd rather use the 6.2L V8 found in a Mercedes CL65

Then again, I'd wait for the LS9 and throw a couple of turbos on it and call it a day.

Define awesome sounding. I admit to being parital/biased a bit but imho my tvr rover v8 sounds far better than a typical mustang/charger <insert yank muscle here>

German V8's FTW! "Only" 6.2 L for > 500 hp. We might get closer to the magical Honda 100 HP/L on big engines!

(F1 Engines don't count)

Screw the v8, just get a 20b and keep the faith. :D

I keep hearing this evil voice in my head telling me to take my 13b from the fc and dump it into my fb, take the rover v8 from the 390se and dump it into the fc, get a griff 500 lump for the wedge. I wish I was rich, a nice three way motor swap would be so cool.
