mainly your gonna want to snag the whole LS1/trans assembly. this is complete motor with complete wiring harness and ecm. and trans.. if manual, then get the clutch assembly too.. pedals and connections.. throw out bearing/arm etc. probl gonna want to scrap all ls1 emissions devices. then need to tune the ECU for the emissions stuff delete.
after that your gonna need swap parts.. been hearin alot on Granny kits or w/e. they should have what u need. basically need motor mounts and tranny crossmember mounts. probly a few extra stuff.
as far as what to keep in the FD for the swap to work, i'm not 100% sure. your gauges will need to be changed out to work with the LS1 stuff.... shifter too. all your stock emissions stuff needs to go. probly need a new radiator for the LS1.. new fuel pump/lines to connect to the LS1 rails.
hopefully someone who's done this thing can fill you in on more.. i just have an idea of what the LS1 is like and basic knowledge of what u need to do. i'm considering one in my camaro

No it's not Turbo'd
You'll need Subframe if you're going Hinson, and Supposedly not if you're going Granny's...
Catback unless you plan on fabbing a whole new exhaust system.
Other than that, you need some basic stuff like brake system, abs if you want to keep it, steering rack.
But as far as getting rid of stuff... everything that goes in a reuild goes... and then some...
EngineBlock
Turbos
Trans
Radiator
IC
Oil Coolers
If you have some stock components, like Fuel Pressure Regulator, Fuel Pump, etc.. those weill need an upgrade, but it's not like you'll get whole lot for a 13 year old pump.
Rear Diff, can saty or can go, depends on how worn, and wether or not you're going dragging with it or not...
One thing that's definitely wrong is that you keep all your stock gauges and "Body Harness" which does things like turn on lights etc... The New LS1 harness gets modified to work with the LS1 to "Convert" the transmission signal to the Mazda Odometer, Tach, and Spedo.... and for things like reverse light etc... you need to wire in some relays etc... all this can get done @ the shop where you purchase the conversion kit, depending on whom you go with....

the only things you keep are the subframe, body harness, steering rack, abs, AC parts (if you're gonna retain them after the swap), axles, and rear diff (again, you can buy chromoly axles and a Kazaa LSD from Hinson)
