FYI for you FD LS1-ers if you haven't seen it.

....lets hope the engine cradle wasn't welded by the same guy/process.

A seized motor is what caused him to hit the wall.

I'm sure this problem has already been ressolved but it never hurts to reinforce.

Yes, I would love to hear that it's no longer an issue on the new (er) kits.

A superior motor being asked to do something it was never designed to do.

A little off subject, but how does a LS1 Rx7 feel? Tons of power? And maybe how much a LS1 weighs with intake( not that the intake weighs more than 7lbs) and exhaust. Thanks

I think it would be more appropriate if the title says Hinson Torque Arm breaks.

To say that the welds are breaking in the Hinson kit would initially lead to people believe the cradles are falling apart and engines dropping onto the ground.

Rumors get started over things like this when someone doesn't bother to read the entire thread.

Especially people that just like to read the headlines...

Gtorx-7,

Just got mine running, after my 2 into 1 exhaust (racing beat single tip) was
welded in.

Car sounds like a 69' Z-28 with the chambered exhaust. My Ls-1 must have a hotter cam (don't know for sure). Sounds fantastic.

Going thru the gears, it feels like my old 67' vette with the 427/435 big block
without all the cowl shake.

I still can't believe this car.
I have the Tokico shocks on full soft and it feels like I'm doing wheelies when I
tromp on it.

If your on the fence about the conversion, GO for it.

Jack

From Hinson Himself:

HSC is initiating a recall on torque arms shipped since January 1st, 2005 to present time. The recall will cover the replacement of the top 90 degree mount if it is measured to be 0.100” in thickness. You can measure the bottom mounting plate for reference. The recent torque arm breaks are not related to welding issues but instead to material failure. These new and thinner brackets are stretching under stress and causing a break at the welds. We have experienced it during our own testing, and we have isolated the problem upon further review.

Thats awesome he really stands behind his product!

Hopefully he is right cause this issue just came up in the last month or 2 and this is only the 2nd known break for a customer. Hinson does stand behind his products.

Here is the first break.
