V8 Swap Q
V8 Swap Q
I just bought a 95 rx-7 and i have a freshly rebuilt 88 chev 350 bored 30 over, roller lifters, cammed, intake, headers, edelbrock 650cfm carb that came out of a police cruiser. I do not know much about the rx-7's but i wanted to swap the 350 into it. Any suggestions, tips, etc on a swap.

If you have any intention of ever trying to be smog legal one of the main rules is the engine needs to be newer than the car. The rules vary state to state, but I'm pretty sure that part is nationwide.
Also LS series engines are the most popular with FDs (93-95s) because you can maintain the weight balance of the car.
IF it will purely be a drag (not street) car though, the 2 above don't really matter.

Unless you monut the motor very low then fitting the carb and cleaner will be the least of your worries, the heads might not even fit! It is probably ten times easier to stuff one of those bad boys into an FC, not to mention cheaper. The T2 hoods allow us to mount the carb and cleaner without a problem and with the Grannys kit you have a large array of available headers assuming you can do some custom exhaust work (not hard, just find a local show with a mandrel bender).
Oh, and Caanon the engine does not have to be newer than the vehicle as long as it is registered and insured as a hot rod, collector car, kit car, etc. To make it emissions legal it does depend completely on the state as some states will not even enforce the federal regulations such as OBDI that his car is required to be equipped with.
