I am pretty against this whole concept, but theres a thread open about this in the lounge. I haven't read it yet, but its somewhere to start. Try the search button also, I see this almost weekly

There is a forum section completely dedicated to "other" engine swaps. here it is: https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/

i have been planning on one day doin this aswell, a couple reasons
1) i got everythign to do it besides a big enough rear end which i want to change regardless of the engine
2) my engine is running low compression and not gunna last too much longer and i figure why not i will love the power

this is what i got so far:
350
400 turbo tranny with a new torque converter
and no matter what i want to put in a 9" ford rearend

I know there is alot of work to be done and alot of money to be spent, but with emissions and everything its gunna be hard to rebuild this 12a and get alot of power out of it, another thought has been a twin turbo swap. IN the end its all gunna cost moeny and a rebuild for the 12a is gunan be the cheapest so thats whats gunna most likely happen

Ok, there is pretty much no need for that huge, heavy rear end. A ford 8.8 will do perfectly fine and are easier to source.

yea Iam aware of that, but if i ever do end up putting in the 350 i would rather have the 9, but your right ill probabely end up being tlaked out of it

**** this topic got me in a real dispute in MySpace RX7 club cause i compared the swap like taking a Harley & putting a Honda CBR motor or taking a Mustang and dropping a 3 rotor motor ans some fool got really uptight about it.Like i dont see the engine swaps @ the panamericans lol, but i have seen many RX's with pistons Grand National Motors in Miatas,Corvette engines in 2nd & 3rd gens but i think it losses the glory of being an RX7 it just becomes the any ole piston car syndrome lol. Not discouraging you it's just my loyalty to the Wankel engine & the cars that bare the rotary name "RX"

Bear. Bear the rotary name "RX".
