Most questions can be answered there. It's a better resource for engine swaps than here.

There's also a basic installation guide at www.grannysspeedshop.com where a lot of us bought our conversion parts.

The cost of a conversion depends on a lot of factors.
-do you have the car
-do you have an engine
-what is your final goal (daily driver, race car, etc)
-do you want upgraded wheels, suspension, etc.

Out of curiosity, what type of 350 are you putting in a second gen? I ask because I just bought a 3rd gen to do an LS1 swap with and I've considered selling my 2nd Gen car. I've got about 7k into it but some of that is because I had to buy extra wheels and tires since my original choice didn't fit. I also went with all Autometer gauges in a custom dash plate I made, a new B&M shifter, Art Carr transmission, stuff like that.

i havent really decided yet on which 350, i want to start a new project, so im interested in this. My problem is what ive seen on someforums, ive seen people spending upwards of 9k on this project. I just want to know, i can get a car easily, afterwards, what parts do i need, is there a parts list anywhere? an istall guide anywhere? estimated time of swap? and cost of swap alone, no wheels, suspension, excluding the car, just to get it running, how much $$$$$, thanmks for the help guys.

Granny's has an installation guide on the website. It's not 'engine swapping for dummies" or anything but it will get you through it. As far as the costs, add up the price of the parts you need, factor in about 30% extra because 9 out of 10 people go over their budget, and then add that to whatever else you want to spend.

The BASICS of getting the swap done is fairly cheap. I've heard of swaps completed for under 2 grand. Most of us like to do things like custom wheels, aftermarket gauges, things like that. That's what adds up.

its true, its not cheap... unless youre building a backyard beater out of old shitty V8 "leftovers" and a tired old FC chassis.

yet, the most basic of LS1T56 FC projects could be done for under $6000.
but, then you might have a car with a lot of power but unable to put it to use... because you would still be on stock suspension and tiny stock wheels/tires and probably no lsd, etc.

think about what youre looking for in a final product then go for it. but we all know its cheaper to buy someone elses car that is already built, then you dont need to spend much at all to change it to your final product or to just clean it up or finish it up.
