specs vs times

Hello all,

I have had rotary rx-7s for a good number of years. but, i have never raced them. I am building a back half big tire car with a ls1 and a supercharger. it will be putting down 600-650 at the wheels, a T350, 435 gears and it weighs 2300 lbs. Any ideas on how fast it should run in the 1/8 - 1/4?

thanks,
Will

All depends on the driver and traction
At your weight (2300) and power (650) expect 1/4 times in the mid 9s around a 140mph exit.

That rear gear ratio is absolutely not going to work for your setup. With a TH350, 5% converter slip and a 26" tire, the car will only do 110mph at 6500. With a 28" tire, it'll do 119mph. 650hp and that low of a weight would trap that fast or faster in the 1/8.

Are you building the motor? If not, I'd recommend buying a '05+ 5.3L for forced induction. You can get them in aluminum block also, but they have better connecting rods and hold up better to boost than the earlier LS1s. You'd be able to sell your LS1 to someone building an NA car for a profit and have a sturdier motor. 650whp through an auto is pushing it for those earlier rods.
