SO. am I a blasphemer by posting about my recent acquisition?

Hi, just thought I would say hello... Got an oddball RX7, I'll call the RX5.7 from now on, that needs a little work to be done. Im sure I'll be flamed to death, but here she is.

If you frequent the SHO or VW forums, you may have seen my handle. We own a frame and suspension shop in Utah, and are always having fun playing with and working on cars of all types. This baby needs some electrical work to get some of the thing on the dash finished up, but other than that is a fun fun fun car.

She's getting a power steering conversion, and make up a nice metal fascia for the dash gauges. If anyone knows the correct method of connecting the 88 chevy blazer 4 speed auto speedo through the tranny tunnel and what conversion it needs to read correct speed, please let me know.

Yep. You buy a seven becuase of the rotary, not really becuase of the looks. I mean, you take plenty of other cars and you can put a V8 in them for far less hassle, but when you do it to a seven, its like a slap in the face to rotary fanatics.. theres just no purpose except to trash the rotary.

Well, all I can say is have fun.. whatever floats your boat.

Ya,

I found a site with all the questions asked and answered already, not an unpopular mix the 350 and RX.

I took this car in on trade for work at our shop, fun fun fun.

Ignore the idiots. I bought my RX7 because I like RX7's. Can't see the rotary when the hood is closed.

www.grannysspeedshop.com
www.hinsonsupercars.com
www.torquecentral.com
www.misred.com

Very good sites with the all info you need.

Good luck with it.

PS Mine drives like a bat out of hell too. Haven't found a rotary owner yet who will race me, and my car is slow

Well, consider yourself slapped right up side the head, Rick James style.

Why, just because it has a small air cleaner on it?

You sure that's a carb, and not TBI? Looks alot like older chevy TBI, but, I may just be smokin' the ganja- Definitely not Holley, and doesn't look quadrajet, so.

Ya, it's not a carb, it is throttle body fuel injection. simple as pie to tune. Baby runs fast hard and strong, 20 MPG :-)

I'm looking into build a 350 right around 280-300 HP while still being streetable and smooth. I hate lopey idling cars.

Some would argue the rotaries trash themselves, leaving a dead car with a motor full of expensive parts to fix.. Meanwhile, within a mile of any dead RX7 body, theres 20 running 350s for about 1/5 the cost and hassle of rebuilding and installing a r0tary! heh

Performance per $ spent bargain= RX7 body and any running domestic SB V8!

I love my rotary rx-7 and all, but there just is no comparison with a 350 on an engine vs. engine basis. The 350 has the performance potential, and enormous aftermarket support that dwarfs many engines', and easily dwarfs the 13b's. Any real auto enthusiast would recognize the 350 as being great. At the same time, I can understand the view that a rotary is what makes the rx-7 special, because it is definitely a big part of it. So I guess maybe it really comes down to being unique vs. being purely performance oriented.

I've definitely considered making the switch myself, it is very tempting. How is handling and braking affected with that conversion?
