SCC magazine - LS1 FD on the cover

just got the issue. they loved the ls1.
"the bastard has conquered our hearts".

too bad they used an example with low power (347 hp with big cam - something ain't right), no ABS (longest stopping distance), and normal tires (unlike the 615 azenis on the rotary fd which is way unfair).

imagine they used mine? they should have used a better example instead of one with tons of stickers silly magazine. if you are gonna do a comparison, at least do it right.
and what is with using an automatic camaro on normal tires? stupid stupid stupid.

I'll have to pick that issue up. Was it some sort of RX7 tuner shootout?

Rich, I'll be at Rotorfest with my LS1 powered RX7. Hopefully I won't get tarred and feathered. The local RX7 guys are really impressed with my swap and I haven't gotten any flak from anyone yet. Well except for that one guy at an autocross who shook his head and walked away saying that I ruined the balance of car with the big iron motor!

Pete

rich, i can't go to rotorfest. i'm scared
pete, it isn't a tuner shootout, but the cover story was the ls1 fd vs rotary drift fd vs automatic tranny camaro. like the ricers reading that mag already think the camaro sux and now they pit two virtual race cars versus a mostly stock f-body.

I just read through your link about your car, I like it alot! Its very clean, and well done. If your car however was in the shoot-out, it would have had too much power. I think they were going for a "average" V8 swap setup against very simlar power rotary. The whole tire issue is dumb as ****, why not use the same damn tires? DUH! Other than that, I liked the issue, as both were cage cars, and bolt-ons as well. Both had no ABS of course, but oh well. They admitted the camaro had no point, was just thrown in for the fact of being thrown in. Oh well, have fun at the track!

They need to certainly do equal playing fields with at the minimum the same type of tires (ie R compound).

2MCHPWR- did you reinstall your ABS? Is it working now? Is it like day and night or what?

mark - i did re-install ABS and its night and day on abrupt stops. Just look at all the braking tests of non-ABS rx7's like your car in the shootout, and this car in this article. i have not raced it yet, but i am autocrossing on friday so i'll give full report then it took me a long time to re-install the system. big PIA.
