potential GB on custom built atlernators

The stock LS1/6 alternator leaves much to be desired. I decided to venture out and find a better alternative and this is where I ended up....

I am currently in communication with Nathan at Excessive Amperage about setting up a group buy on custom built 200amp+ alternators which will bolt onto the stock LS1/6 location and he will build them to hookup to the stock wiring with zero modification. All alternators are custom built to customer spec (up to 275amps!) with all new parts. The alternator that we are looking at is about 1 inch wider than the stock unit but it is far superior in design and construction and does not require a cooling tube. These things are built to crank out some serious current evn at lower RPMs, and more importantly it won't burn up or crap out on you after a couple years.

He offers powdercoating in any color for an additional $20 (more for special colors) and I have him looking into chroming.

The price for a custom built 200amp alt will be:
$270 shipped for 1-9 buyers
$243 shipped for 10-19 buyers
$231 shipped for 20 or more.

a 275amp version will run you $375 dollars shipped.

This is a preliminary thread to gauge interest. When the actual group buy begins I will post it in the GB section of the forum. Please give me some feedback.

thanks,
Rob

for any technical questions please email Nathan at excessivegroupbuy@yahoo.com. The group purchase has not been approved so hold off on payments etc because the group pricing will not begin until the actual GB begins. In other words, this is strictly an informative thread.

thanks,
Rob

About 105 amps on the stockers, which tend to crap out at high rpm and require instense cooling to keep from burning up. The stock alt is a high failure rate item.

With a higher output alt you will be able to run safely at higher RPM and you will also be able to use an underdrive pullies without adveresely effecting the electrical system.
