Small block chevy conversions are those without imagination or talent.

I talked to a guy that own's a rotary speed shop and has been working on rx7's for 15+ years and i talked to him about me doing a 350 swap in a first gen and he told me that, unfortunately, the best way to have a rx7 making big horsepower while keeping drivability is to drop something besides a rotary in it. Even if you can get a rotary to make lots of horsepower reliably you still run into the problem of destroying transmissions. This guy then showed me a gear out of a trans that had all the teeth sheared off.

He told me that one of the best things to do would be to adapt a built T56 to a work with a nasty rotary and if you gonna do all that work you might as well just swap in a much nastier and more reliable and drivable v8.

and by big horsepower I don't mean around the 500 area.
