need help/advice with LT1 swap
Hello,
I am kind of in a bit of a tricky position, and I need your advice.
I have a FB sitting in my garage that has nothing in it. I have been waiting for my kit from granny speed shop, and it will be arriving this coming Wednesday.
Unfortunately we recently got some bitter sweet news. We have to move. The move will be good for our family, but we need to sell our house NOW and the Realtor wants my car out of the garage or else she will not list our house on the market.
I already have an LT1 engine that does work, and I will soon have a radiator and fuel pump, but I can not get my hands on a decent t56 transmission for the life of me.
I would like to know what kind of transmission can bolt right up to the LT1 and still fit in the transmission well of the 1985 rx7. I just spoke to a very nice gentleman who recommended a turbo 350 transmission, but I am wondering what else I can use.
I would also like any short cuts and info you guys might have on throwing this build together asap.
I do not need this build to pass regostration or anything. I literally just need the car to be able to get from my garage to my friends house which is a block down the road when we show our house.
After we sell the house, I will tow the car to the new house and work on it there.
Thanks for your time and any information.

If you haven't already, try car-part.com. You'll likely not get as good a deal as if you searched a forum but you can typically find even some rare stuff that way. Otherwise, what I when my chassis needed to move ASAP was picked a dead time of night, used the front tow points to tie it to a truck and towed it VERY SLOWLY (with very slow braking and acceleration). The very slow being the key as if it's not a manual brake setup, it'll be difficult to stop it without the vacuum assist. It's not the best solution at all, but it is one.
1UP for 4L60E, GM put those things in like everything and they're dirt cheap. You can even buy a Jasper reman for like 1800 and its got a 100,000mi warranty.
Oh yeah another thing about the Granny's kit. Not sure about the FB, but the LT1 has a bit lower pan than a Gen 1 SBC, and on my FC i had to shim the bottom of the kit off the subframe mounts with washers to get the pan to clear the steering rack. Make sure that thing has enough room for the engine to torque tweek without bumping the steering rack.
