LS1 v8 vs 13bt weight
MY 89 FC with the LS1 weighed in at 2643lbs with a full tank of gas. I plan to get it down to 2600lbs. My engine made 540hp at the crank which equates to about 430 whp on a mustang dyno. The car ran a 11.9 @ 124 mph on burnt azenis with a 1.96 60 foot. The car handles like snot!
the fc chassis weighs more than the fd an your saying yours weighs less than all the fd's with ls1's listed?
When equipped with turbos, the factory shows the weights within 50lbs. of each other.
The FC/FD weight difference is minimal; and the lightest FCs are quite a bit lighter than the lightest (USDM) FDs; '86 base models are high 2600/low 2700 lbs; no FDs were that light.
My iron block LS1/FC with an iron block, big turbo setup and full leather/power seats and power windows/moonroof weighed just a hair over 3000 lbs. I should be down to 2850-2900 still keeping power everything with my aluminum block.
