I'm tired of the dependability of the rotary, so I want to go ls1. I found a junkyard that can sell motor, tranny, wiring harness for 2300. I think grannys quoted me 1800 for everything I need from them. How much would labor be on putting this in or is it really not that hard to do yourself, without lifts and power tools(I'm pretty sure I would need at least a couple power tools)

I don't recall needing any of my power tools on the FD. I did need them for the TII rear swap into my base FC, but that had nothing to do with the engine.

Don't have a lift yet either, and I've done two V8 swaps in my garage. Read as much as you can on Torquecentral, and also check out hinsonsupercars.com as well as Granny's site. Between those sites everything you need can be found and if you have the time, patience and funds you can do it yourself. (I'd recommend getting your friends to lend a hand, I know mine did).

I am doing my swap in my storage unit. No power tools. Well only things I needed to use were a drill, die grinder, and power inveter hooked up to the car since the storage unit did not have any power outlets.

I swapped the rear end as well for a tII only used two jacks and hand tools, and a buddy was there. There really isn't a need for a lift or air tools.

If I can do it in my 10 by 20 storage unit you can do it anywhere.
