You're in the wrong forum, son !

And it's a Pain Electronically, unless you have someone make your harness, and other than that it's just removing the rotary, and bolting up the LSx .... given that you get a descent kit,,,

4.6 Ford instead of LS1?
While the Terminator is a good match for a stock LS1, no one has ever done that swap into an FD, and you can always boost the chevy motor. The LS1 looks beautiful and fits perfect in the FD bay. Plus Ford is ghey

If you are scared of electronics then try going iron block SBC style. The 350 is arguably the best platform motor in history, the parts are cheap, available, and the motor can make some serious power without sacrificing reliability. Pick up a 350, get a 383 stroker kit, bore it out .030", put in RX-7, go fast. The carburetor may be an issue in the FD (in the FC they typically use the T2 hoods) but the fuel lines should hook right up (if they are the same as FC) and with a carbureted motor electronics are about as simple as it gets.
LS1 costs more, but it has more power potential, better looks, lighter weight, and is a much more travelled route. If you have the cash to shell out for the LS1 then do it, but it is more work and money.

So you're telling me an aluminum LS1 can take on just as much boost as an iron 4.6?

Cliffs: Stock bottom end, stock cams, stock heads, stock headers, a Cobra makes 1188 RWHP. LS1 can do that?

The '03-'04 Cobra motor was built for a supercharger. The LS1 was built for N/A. Please compare apples to apples. With ONLY the mods required to accomodate a charger (low compression pistons, + etc..) I can assure you that an LSX will take at least as much boost and at make at least as much power as the Ford. What we were saying is that a stockish LS1 usually pulls on a stockish Cobra suprisingly, and it's one of the reasons it's a MUCH better choice for an FD. I personally have a tremendous amount of respect for the '03 - '04 Terminator Cobra.

If the 4.6L modular motor were really so much better than the LS1, then why is the LS-series being swapped into virtually ever RWD vehicle on the planet? About the only thing I can find that people have put the 4.6 into is the older Thunderbirds.

Call me gramps!
As much as I love the modular line of motors, the 4.6L/5.4L simply will not fit without serious chassis modifications. The modulars are just way too wide, which is why no ones does it.

Well, you can brag about the internal strength of the 4.6L mod motor all day long, but good luck justifying this picture!
The LS1 is 390 pounds or so, while the 4.6L is ~600 pounds for an iron block and ~520 pounds for an aluminum one. The LS1 is roughly the same size as that 302 sitting next to it.
