LS1 FC guys, please read

alright first of all how much have you spent to have a safe reliable car?
I need to know if i can tackle this project. I am selling my integra for ~6k and will have that to play with along with my income for the time of the project.

I have been looking on Hinson and Granny's websites to kinda price some parts...but i need some advice on whats needed and what isnt?
also are there anymore sites i should know about?

low as 6000 if u do all the work yourself, high as 20000 and you are not even done.

hinson and granny is 50/50 split on this and other forums,
mounrting position and everything else is almost the same, its all personal preferences. and i prefer grannys
no one else makes mount for the FC and its not worth it to custom

go to www.v8rx7forum.com and just keep reading
if u start a thread like this over there u'll get flamed

8000 is pretty realistic assuming u keep everything stock and if u can cut / weld

iirc the only thing that u need to cut and make is the radiator bracket, there are more than enuf threads on different options on making a rad mount on v8rx7forum
the stock tranny mount (hump in the tunnel) needs to be cutted

everything else are bolt-on

there might be some little **** that needs custom mounting solition, like the FPR, but u can ziptie it if u are THAT cheap lol

the exhaust is that one thing that needs to be custom made, prepare to spend ~600 there. and add 700-1000 if u want long tubes

there are more than enuf build threads on v8rx7forum if u just go there and look. and fjrolee ? got a complete excel list on all the parts that are needed in a thread

i am not answering anymore questions until u start doing a search on v8rx7forum, and if u searched already u wouldnt be asking any of these :p, instead u'll be starting your own "build thread"

good luck swaping

Im thinking about doing this myself. Im going to use a 5.3 to help keep the cost down . I was thinking I could do it for around $4000.

if you keep it simple you can do it for maaaaaaybe 4 grand but it depends on so much.

-use a corvette fuel pump w/ the regulator incorporated into it.
-see if you can find oem fuel lines to use for the regulator to the fuel rails (lots of GMs use the same fittings but different hose lengths)
-use a steel Fbody driveshaft, have a local shop cut it and rebalance it and buy an end flange from grannys.
-try to use Fbody fans and radiator, just hammer the frame rails wider a smidge to accept them, or use a taurus v6 radiator fan and a suitable radiator.
-mustang 17x8 and 17x9 wheels are a great fit and are so cheap.
-make your own exhaust.
-I bought a barely used LS6 clutch and p.plate on ls1tech for dirt cheap, it worked so well too, lots of good deals there on stock take-off parts from the mod-crazy fiends.
-when you buy a dropout be sure it has all sorts of things you DO need, like the flanges on the cats that mate up to the headers so you can use those flanges for your custom exhaust. also you need the motor mount "bricks" that are bolted to the block that have the rubber bushings in them, and you need long bolts to go thru them. also want the sensor in the intake arm and you can use an ebay cold air intake for a dodge truck, there is a good thread somewhere on the v8rx7 forum of how to save $$$$ on an LS1FC project.
-I made money selling off the a/c equipment and the p/s pump from my LS1 dropout but I spent way too much having Speartech do the wire harness mod and computer retune, that is something I could have done myself or at least sent to someone else for cheaper and had the reprogramming much cheaper locally.

LS1 swaps get expensive, my buddy started on one and already spent 7k including the engine to boot. If you know someone who can fab parts and you know where theres a steel yard Id recommend making good friends with them cause grannys gets expensive. I started a 2JZGTE swap on my 90 FC and its looking less expensive so far, only because I know how to fab mounts, braces and other misulaneous parts.
