If your doing track days almost every other month I'd say your committed. If you do the ls address the oiling issues.
there are a few tracks with long sweepers that kill stock ls motors. If the fd wasn't such a cool car I'd tell you just to get an rx8 and do the lfx swap.
Remember, miata is always the answer

The fd is already built, with all the good stuff for suspension and bracing.
The heads/cam/Intake/ls is also already there and kicking butt. Improved racing trap door oil pan, scraper and accusump.
The reason I’m interested in this lfx is that the Fd’s geometry suits a slower weight transfer setup, the ls is violent to the point that you can’t really get away with something like 10/8 springs and lighter damping. The power almost upsets dynamic transitions. A stiffer setup overall works better, but isn’t as enjoyable to drive since things happen hard and fast.
I had been thinking along the lines of a destroked 6.2 ls3 with some exotic valvetrain, but if the lfx really can fit behind the rack, and provide a for real weight savings, I’d be tempted to go that way.

If you already have the LS and its light like you say and bumpsteer isnt an issue, just has poor power delivery and is too loud.

Just put a stock cam in it, stock heads and some mufflers. It will still make more power than an LFX and drive like a stock corvette again.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the built LS. couple local Z06 guys I race with had a couple of stock engines each when they were under warranty still and then went with 650rwhp builds once warranty ended.

I dont think they are any faster even on hillclimbs and kart track, but they sure look fun to drive!

I stand corrected.
Their best Stock hillclimb time was 2 min 13.42 sec and best Modified time was 2 min 13.00 sec .
