Man, son arrested after lost vehicles found on property
By Tiffeny Hurtado

LACEY’S SPRING — A father and son face felony charges after authorities discovered stolen vehicles on their property.
Acting on a tip they received from another law enforcement agency in July, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and state Department of Agriculture investigators went to an area on McCutheon Loop Road. They seized stolen vehicles with a value of more than $100,000, said Morgan County Sheriff Greg Bartlett. “Some had been dismantled, and others had their vehicle identification numbers removed,” he said. “The suspects failed to provide any proof of ownership for the vehicles.”
Authorities returned most of the vehicles to their owners in Tallapoosa, Lee and Elmore counties, Bartlett said. They charged Lane Martin Culver, 35, of 171 McCutheon Loop Road and Lumis Martin Culver, 70, of 247 McCutheon Loop Road with first-degree receiving stolen property. Lumis Culver was also charged with two counts of obstructing the identity of a vehicle. The Culvers turned themselves into investigators Monday and were booked into Morgan County Jail. Both were both later released, Lane Culver on $5,000 bail and Lumis Culver on $10,000 bail.

Lane is Brian's business partner and from what I understand Lane does most of the work on the cars in the shop.
Hinson Supercars is located at one of the addresses in the story where the stolen cars were located....take from that what you will but Brian's name nor HSC has showed up anywhere.

I have been down there before. Hinson Supercars is comprised of two shops. The one in the article is in Lacey Springs. That shop is used to pull rotarys out and prep the engine bay for the LSX engine. Then the car is moved to the other shop that is in town and the rest of the work is done there. To get to the shop in Lacey Springs you have to take 3 different back roads to get there, its hard to find. I was there in April and there were maybe 3 rx7s and some other random cars parked around the shop.

Just to give you guys History about HSC...
Lane is the guy who initially did the conversion for Hinson and the guy who does all the work.. Best example to describe them will be, Lane is the mechanic and Hinson is the guy at the dealership that checks you in. Personally, BOTH guys are great guys in person.. But I've heard several people I've met personally who had issues with them and stopped recommending their shop about a year ago.. You could see that on RCC.
Its a shame it has gotten to that point.. and I also wonder if they were at one point came down to my house to steal one of my roller FD. Two guys were scoping out my house one morning and came with a tow truck to haul off one of the roller FD that was parked outside my drive way. Luckily my neighbor (ex-football player) saw them and came outside.. They saw him and took off. There aren't many who would want to steal a roller FD..

WoW...your personal story is even more crazy. This type of **** has been happening a LOT lately. Desperate times...desperate people it seems. I try to be super careful with where I store my toys and who knows their locations. I trust very few.
Re Hinson: I've been hearing lots of stories for sometime now regarding that shop. Luckily I'm not an LSx owner/swapper yet so I haven't needed to worry. I have heard stories about how peoples entire subframes crack or break while driving!

I wanted to post a quick response to let everyone know that Hinson Motorsports is running strong. We have no involvement in what we are confident is a terrible misunderstanding a supplier is going through. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to working with you soon.

Yea you're going to have to do better than that. I recently bought an optima red top battery from you guys, which I had to sell quickly after. I couldn't really complain about the service, you guys were fast. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the stock battery cables or whatever didn't reach the battery terminals but I guess I can't complain to much about it...
Anyway, please give us a bit more info. I really wanted to buy an FD roller and sent it over but I don't really feel safe doing so right now.

Before any libel takes place......place show how Hinson Super Cars is in fact involved with this. If not I hope the OP can have the thread title changed before any damages are incurred by HSC.

The address used in the article is the same address as one of two addresses hinson uses for buisness. I dunno how it can be any more clear cut. However, I'm thinking maybe someone had their car at the shop, couldn't pay the bill and Hinson didn't put a mechanics lein against the car, therefore the owner listed it as stolen to get out of the bill.
Oh and VIN tampering could be as simple as removing the dash board from the car that has the VIN stamped on it (Or the demister grille from an FC). Or using the wrong rivets when putting the VIN tag on a new dash/demister grille.
Hinson is likely playing his cards close because that's what his lawyer is telling him to do and it's a smart move on his behalf despite what the mob rule has in mind.
I'd like to know the whole story as I've spent quite a bit of cash with Hinson.

Also, I've heard several people telling me about problems with Hinson Supercars.. The reason I know is because fellow alabamian/ rotary guy felt like he got screwed by sending his car to Lane/Hinson Supercars. When this guy decided to make a surprise visit to Lane's shop (because no response from Brian and Lane and the job took far longer than promised), he saw that his wheels were off of his car and was on someone else's car. Not only the wheels were on someone else's car but his tires were dismounted and another set of tires were put on. I don't know what some of you think about that, but in my opinion, that's VERY shady thing to do. His story put me in perspective and I stop recommending Hinson Supercar.
As I stated before, I've met both Brian and Lane. Both were super nice in person and have supported my event. I'm surprised to hear about this but at the same time recent horror stories I have heard from Ex-rotary guys, it doesn't surpise me either..

You are correct sir.. Also, they have to prove my statement on here are false. In this case, I've stated what I've heard and read and my opinion about the situation.
Also, Hinson Supercar is involved when one of the address listed on their site matches the one on the article. That seems pretty clear to me..

now i'm not trying to say you're intentionally trying to do harm to HSC....but trying to get an understanding of the legal situation.
Would this not fall under Libel per se?
