i started the v8 swap today! now the fun starts

so i got a 89 5.0l mustang for almost free with a good condition motor and t5 tranny the other week and will start to do the swap tomorrow, i have a couple of questions about this now.

1) can i see pics of the wiring harnesses after the unused wires are gone?( ford or chevy swap i dont care cause the wiring should be about the same)

2) does grannys hate me or do they just not reply to emails?

3) has anyone noticed any difference in the "feel" of the car after the v8 is swaped in? ie. the body twisting or anything like that.

i ask the third question cause i have been talking with some guys who have built 350 powerd datsun 240s and say i should concider stich welding up the subframe conectors as well as the strut towers and the firewall to inner fender seam. any answers would be great and i hope to have this swap done "in a timely manor"(like before hell freezes over). oh and one more thing, the car is 90% striped down what else should i consider doing?

I've never heard of FC or FD owners having to weld their chassis seams to be able to handle 400 ft. lbs. of torque from the motor.

Here is a thread which shows how to wire up a 5.0:

thanks for the link that is part of what i was looking for and helps a lot, by the way i think that your swap is one of the best placed engines i have seen. although personaly i dont want to bash out any of the firewall or tranny tunnel. i have chossen to go the granny kit route and will review this for anyone who cares as i dont have the time to fab up mounts right now. i am taking any tips and hints from anyone who has done this are allways welcome.

As far as I know, the granny kit will make a useable V8 RX7 and if you want a relatively quick, painless swap, it is probably the best way to go.

the painless part is what i am going for as i have spent enough time preping the car for a nice motor that i dont want to mess around right now fabing up mounts and cross members. at a later date i might decide to fabup a set of my own mounts but that is something that is a ways away for me aslong as the granny kit is up to the task and does what it said it will do. right now i am eliminating alot of use less stuff from the car like all the extra wiring bits for the interiour and trying back the unneeded wiring from the engine bay. i have been thinking since i am sooooooooo slow at work that the car might be getting a sandblasting and a complete resto and paint job on the boss time(i have to stick it to the man now more then ever since the shop was sold to a bunch of american oil tycoons big wigs). i have the space and the equipment at my disople for the next bit and the car is allready striped out. anyway what ever i will do i think that this is by far the biggest project for me to date and i am looking forward to ever part of it. i will post pics as soon as i start to do some real big work to the car.
