how do i get 500 hp?

well anyways, i really want to do a ls1 swap, but i want to reach around 450 to 500 HP, NA, no nitrous, no superchargers, no turbos.........anyways, what are good ways to help me reach my goal of 500 HP with like, lets say..... $1000 to add on to the motor?

mods if im in the wrong section, just move the thread

I'll call it ownage when you make the horses on the buget specified. You can barely buy the Fast 90 intake for the +$1k the OP mentioned, much less build a stroker motor...

Almost all stock displacement ls1s have an extremely hard time breaking 450 rwhp. Normal numbers for a heads/cam setup is closer to 420. That's still formidable but you need to be thinking 6.0L+ in an LSX if you want 500 honest horses at the back wheels.

there's no way you're going to add 210rwhp to an LS1 N/A for a grand. No way. Since you're already considering doing the money for the swap, focus on suspension, brakes, and tires to make the car go with the power better.

After you do all that, and get use to the power of a stock LS1, then start looking at a good cam, intake manifold, intake, headers, exhaust, ported heads, Ported Throttle Body, etc.

500rwhp is very attainable N/A with an Ls1, you're going to have to have a crazy *** Cam though.

Just get a LS2. With Intake, Headers and Exhaust you will be right around 390-400rwhp.

Toss in a cam and get a tune.... and you should be able to get 450rwhp easy.

It will cost a little over 1k for a cam swap only. Well, to do it correctly it will.

You cant just throw in a cam and call it a day. You got to replace things while in there. For example, your definitely going to need to upgrade your vavle springs as a bare minimum requirement. And since your getting in there, you should replace the timing chain. and since you need to take off the oil pump to replace the timing chain, you should also upgrade to a ported Ls6 oil pump for cheap insurance. Then your going to need to replace all the seals (or atleast you should before other problems occur). Then your going to need a tune. which is either 200-500 at a dyno shop, or 800 for the software to DIY.

Cam swap is more than just a cam.
