IA Here we go...!!! '93 FD RX7 V8 swap

Hi everyone! My name is Brandi and last Saturday i brought home a black/tan '93 rx7. My plan is to do some sort of LS swap with an automatic transmission. The last couple of days have been filled with a lot of wrenching and cleaning things up. Today we finally got the rotary pulled! Here are a couple pics:

I know me too! I still can't figure out what I want to do EXCATLY, but I guess a lot of it has to do with what is available when I'm ready to get the car running. Always looking though! Good luck with yours also!

I would too if it were going to be more of a street/daily driven car

I love a woman who can work on a car. Looks like a fun project, what are your plans as I saw you mentioned it's not going to be a street/dd car.

A girl who wrenches on cars, awesome! A girl who swaps a LS1 into a FD, even better!

Why the auto trans? The T56 is easy to maintain and use. What are your plans for the FD?

She's going to make it into a drag racing car is all I can figure. That's the only place the auto is better, and it's better by a lot imo.

Yep plans are for a drag car- I have a buddy with a swapped FC with an auto and its amazing the difference it makes. I daily drive a mazdaspeed3 right now and it's a manual which is fun for daily driving.
Yahh I have a thread started on norotors also (I lurked there quite a bit before I bought the car), people seem to be a little bit friendlier here but I'm sure they see a lot of swaps like this go unfinished.

Good Luck with the swap! Don't worry too much about NoRotors seeming unfriendly, they're just tough to warm up to (tho being a girl helps). I'm on there too, same name Super jelly of the in garage lift btw

Yes it's easier running really fast in an auto but what's the fun if you're not shifting gears? Ha!

Good luck with the swap!

I am working on swapping an FC right now. I am starting to wonder if there are more swapped RX7s in Iowa than Rotary powered.

Yahh no kidding! Maybe some day or another we could get a meet or cruise put together. Does anyone on here go to ICC in Omaha?

Good luck with the V8 Swap.

I snagged a minty fresh 93 FD with no drivetrain for the last few years, and norotors really helped. But man all the spare FD parts I could ever want are on here! Just cant let either forum know Im on both hehe!

Put in an LS1 and have loved/hated every minute of it. I cant say I honestly agree with the drag car mentality, but thats my opinion, and I still give props because its a cool swap and requires lots of hard work and dedication. But its always good to see it come to fruition. Continue along your path, and PICS!!!!!

Best of luck and nice car

LS1s are easy to get, but it depends how much power you want to make. I went with an LS1 with my first swap, but going to use an LS2/LS3 this second time around.

Thank you! Yeah I was pretty lucky this car was a California car for a good majority of its life. It takes a lot of the hassle out of cleaning it up.
So is your car just a driver then? I will keep mine street legal but the plan is to hopefully keep up with friends at the track
