help deciding

alright so i am about to buy a 81 rx7...the original motor in it. its a clean car, but i am looking alot more performance than stock. i have been looking at v8 swaps, and have been leaning to a ford 347 street performer..full built for turbo, and would be runing a custom turbo set up.....but my brother had a 87 rx7 n/a, and i loved his car to death, and kinda want that body style..but i have seen a couple of those with the v8 swap, and want something rare...like a 1st gen turbo 5.0 swap.....anybody got any input? im kinda goin crazy over here with my thoughts , idk if i should keep the rotarty and do upgrades to that or swap it out..and idk what body style would be better...i love the 2nd gen but also like the 1st for its rarety(word?).

The rareness of the FB in good shape means that you should consider a different car for a V8. For the love of a 1st gen, no V8 swaps................

agree 100%

if you wanted something v8, why not go for an older stang (pre 1970). Of course getting one cheap is not going to be easy but if you plan on hella mods, just get some old bucket thats not rusted and go from there. I mean yah, there are alot of poeple doing stangs, either restore, or serious power, but don't here too too much these days about turbo v8 67 stang and while not as light as RX-7, the older you get the lighter the body...

Awhile back I wanted to put a small V8 into an MG and the more I thought about it the more it sounded even better to have an MG with a 13B, or dare I say a 20b?

keep the rotary if you want a car that you have to continue to dump money into.

Or drop a SBC in and have something that ANY mechanic can work on and parts are available everywhere for pennies on the dollar compared to Rx-7 parts.

v8 it the whole way man. Really think about it this way. You are keeping that rx-7 on the road for longer cause if a rotary was it when it blew AGAIN, you would say **** it and send it to a wrecking yard !
