I used Schoenfeld 1 7/8 inch headers for a G-body. They're way too big to just drop in, I had to do some hammering and grinding and it still needs a little more so they don't rub on the subframe. But I've seen posted that the smaller Schoenfelds do clear without the same problems - with the size I am using they just won't fit when routed normally. My #3 tube goes OVER the #7 tube and hits the brake booster.

I've heard that advance had jeep conversion headers that will clear, as well as Hooker shorty headers. I don't think block huggers will clear the motor mounts if you happen to be using a granny's cradle. Plus they probably route straight down into the subframe.

Heddman Jeep Cherokee Conversion headers.. it's like 69047 or something along those lines for a part number. Granny's has them on his site. Me and Indyparts both have them, they fit GREAT.

My setup wasn't ever going to fit under the hood. I have plans for a scoop (a 3" will be fine) but I have an air cleaner spacer and a somewhat high-rise intake manifold. Granny's says the Weiand x-celerator manifold will fit with a drop-base air cleaner. But my fuel lines won't clear a drop-base and I don't want a short manifold - I actually have plans to go with a single-plane manifold that's even taller.

Thanks. It's definitely a work in progress but it has it's good points. It is taller than what a "stock" engine would be. I have a 1" phenolic spacer under the carb, the intake as mentioned is probably 2 inches taller than a GM manifold, and I have an air cleaner spacer that's about an inch and a half. I can take that out now if I want to drop a little - I redid the carb linkage and fuel line that I had on the cabr originally, so now it will clear everything. But if it's going to stick up, you might as well see the whole thing and get as much cool air to the carb as I can get.

From what I understand of the process (a buddy explained it to me just the other night) I think it would work great. He was explaining fiberglass, not carbon fiber, but I understand it's a similar process as far making the molds you need.

If you go with TPI, an LT1 or LS1 setup, a 2" cowl would probably work as long as you started it far enough for the underside to clear. The bracing on the stock hood hits just about everything. What engine setup are you running? I could get away with the right 3" scoop so if you aren't running a phenolic spacer or tall intake a 2" should probably be fine. It's that first inch at the wrong spot that causes all the problems.
