Best Auto Shifter?
Hey guys,
I'm using a 200-4R and I just need a shifter to get things going. I wouldn't call my self a neat freak, but I'd like the car to look good when it's finished.
I'd like a shifter that looks like a factory option when I'm done with it.
If you guys have had successful instals with your cars (I know most people probably run manuals) let me know what you did. I've heard you can rig a stock rx7 auto shifter to a chevy tranny.... let me know about that for sure if you know anything!
thanks a lot!!

You can probably get a universal shifter cable from any speed shop and modify your original shifter a little to accept the end of the new cable. On the transmission side the length of the swing lever will need to be either shortened or lengthened from center to center of the mounting holes to get the gears to line up right. I started out trying to do the same idea but I am using a BMW driveline and made a pretty hairy setup for the transmission instead. Not so factory looking but after the shiftgate top cover plate and a center console...it looks like it belongs there now

I'm in the same boat man. I am looking at building a linkage adapter for mine as my dad is a welder. The stock arm on the shifter will have to be bent to the other side as that is the side that the shifter will have to attach to. From there I will build a rod or plate to connect the arm of the shifter to the transmission

I used the stock Mazda auto shifter with a grand am shift cable on a 4l60e. The shift cable snaps right onto the transmission shifter arm. I cut the bottom of the grand am shifter off that the other end of the cable snapped onto and welded it onto the bottom of the Mazda shifter arm. I also cut the cable bracket off the grand am and welded it into the tunnel to hold the cable in place. So far it works good I just need to adjust the cable since drive actually is 2 on the shifter face.
