Bellhousing fits my engien but not my T5 WTF?help

Ok here is the deal,I am using a t5 from a 97 v6 camaro,with a 89 350 sbc.

Ok so I got my kit from granny's,and I got an old school camaro bell housing from ddaves at a reasonable price[thanks Dave]anyway the bell housing fits the engine fine but it wont bolt up to the transmission,WTF.
I thought I was supposed to use the old bellhousing with the t5?I asked Grannys when I bought my kit,and he said it would fit,as all the t5s are same except the v6 is weaker.

So what is the deal, what am I supposed to do?we cant drill out new holes as its too thinand we cant jsut weld the bell housing to the tranny, the only thing we can think to do is get a Lakewood or similar universal bell housing [but they cost a damn fortune]or maybe get a newer style v8 bell housing if it will bolt to the engine and tranny and just modify the shifter or make a new hole for it.

the t5 in 93 and newer v6 camaros has a the ford patern. you must also check the input shaft length and the pilot diameter. this trans will require an adapter to fit.
