One of my local competitors owns a Viper and a Z06. He's run both in SS and says the Viper is just too huge and hard to drive quickly. The Vette is much more nimble, faster and easier to drive he tells me.

It's much more demanding in vision and thinking too because nothing is done by rote, you have to evaluate and make decisions. Given a whole day of lapping most people can find the fast way around a racetrack, doing it within a few laps is a completely different mentality and skill set.

That and the fact that the Viper (up until the SRT-10 and maybe the later model GTS coupes) have an open diff. Lots o' power + no LSD = tire smoke and slow times .... for auto-x, at any rate.

Andrew, if you can get your car together by this summer, there are a few A&M practice events. Come on out .... I'll probably be out there dialing in my shocks.

Don, even if I can't I'd like to get out there with my STi. I'm horrible at keeping up with dates and deadlines though. Shoot me a PM when you're planning on heading out and we can caravan.

Hey I saw your car at the first Log Cabin show. Checked it all out. Very cool. Loved the "rough" look of the car. I'm thinking about a V8 RX7 myself. I found a super nice 1st gen and a real nice 2nd gen real close to my home.

Have you taken it down to Leicester to the dragstrip to see what it runs?
