I really gave the HB a LOT of thought, but I think I am just going to stick with the street port this time around. Maybe I will do the HB later on. I just hope I can hang onto the damn thing when it is pushing 20+psi...
Yup valve covers will stay silver, but the car will won't be staying Montego Blue

People are making great power on SP motors with correctly sized turbo setups. But the HBP's brap brap brap is very addicting lol. Either way at 20+psi that thing is really gonna come alive.

Thanks for the kind words Jimbo II

Ok, it has been pretty nice out lately. Have you been able to work on this beast anymore?

Sorry for the long delays on updates. I haven't really touched the car this winter. I actually got ripped off on some parts I ordered and sence then, work has halted.

In the mean time, I also was givin a 91 toyota celica with a blown motor for free so i'm now trying to find a motor to though into it and sell it for a quick profit. The funds from that will help jumpstart my rx7 swap and get things moving again. I'll let you know when something new comes up.

Started working on the car again today, I got the front suspension off . Tomorrow I'll drop the subframe and enlarge the hole for my wilwood master cylinder and complete a few other odds and ends to prepare for paint. And I may start removing the interior. In the mean time I build a 10x8 shed in my backyard and it has cleared a lot of space in the garage. Some pic worthy parts should be coming in the next few days

Well it's official, I HATE the subpar interior of this car. In any case it's now out of the car. I knew my plasitcs weren't in great shap but damn! I think i'll end up replacing most of it. Also my carpet is embarrasing to look at. (i'll get pics tomorrow). I can't decide weather to go with a classic black carpet or the flashy red that I have always wanted. I plan to have the exterior sprayed with satin purl white (Same as my wifes 2010 suby)

Anywho, the interor is out and the next step is to clean it remove the sound deadener crap (not looking foward to this part) Any tips? How are you guys doing the dry ice method?

OH yea. I also removed the aftermarket alarm I had installed a few years ago. I couldn't beleive the hack job they did installing that thing Is consisted of a few dozen zip ties, and a buch of crappy splices/crimps all clung together with a few rolls of electrical tape and stuffed under the dash. the wiring in the car is sooooomuch cleaner now.

On a positive note, my Samberg mounting kit is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

I'm glad the teardown portion of my build is almost over. I'm ready to start putting this thing together

The centerpiece has arrived!

The bumpsteer correction was out of stock but I willbe receiving mine when the next batch is made.

Here is what i've been up to the past several days while waiting on my Samberg Kit...

Interior removed... gross

Nasty carpet...gross. But I did find about $5 in change under my driver side seat and carpet lol. I'll be keeping this old carpet just long enough to use it as a guide to cut the needed holes in the new carpet.

Mess of wiring that was zip-tied zig-zagged taped and tucked under the dash. I've been wanting to update my alarm with something newer anyway.

Front suspension removed for upgrading SuperPro here I come.

Small update!

I haven't done much these past few days but I ordered some new parts (that's always fun)
1. new carpet (went with black)
2. few roles of sound deadener
3. motor mounts
4. superpro bushings (already received them)

Right now i'm in between coats of paint (rubberized undercoating) on my samberg mounting kit. I really like how it's turning out. I'll get some pics when it's all done.

It's time to start shopping for paint. For now I will only be painting the engine bay so I can install my mounting kit/motor/trans.

Paint eh? What do you have in mind for your car?
I decided to paint one of my cars too.. Here are some test panels. not bad looking for not being blocked or color sanded;

I was undecided on a color for a long time. All I knew is I didn't want MB. A few months ago I bought my wife a 2010 Lagacy and fell in love with the color (and car lol). So my car will be painted the same color.

crappy iphone pick.

OK, The past week has been pretty uneventfull yet extremely tedious. All of the above mentioned parts have arrived as well as the paints needed to spray the engine bay.

The tedious part of the week included being hunched over and cramped in the FD while SLOWLY chipping away at the factory sound deadener (wich is complete garbage btw) I've removed ~90% of the factory crap. The only place i didn't remove it from was the firewall and a fews mall patches arround the trunkand rear shock towers. The firewall is a bit too muchof a PITA for me to mess with but on a positive note, I weighed the grocery bag full of sound deadener and I actually managed to remove 15lbs of that mess. Which is just as much as one 50 sq ft roll of my aftermarket deadener, so the amount of added weight will be minimal

By the end of next week I hope to have the shifter hole extended, interior cleaned, sound deadened, and carpet installed.

In other news I've got most of my to-do list for the week accomplished. Shifter hole extended, interior cleaned, and I'm about 1/4 of the way finnish with my fatmat install. This stuff is actually pretty nice (bought it on EBAY) but the install is a bit tricky with the countless curves and corners throughout the car.

Finally some new pics.
The first pic is to show the texture of the 3M rubberized undercoating that went on all of my mounting equipment.

This is what ~15 lbs of the mazda sound deadener looks like. (next to a 5 gallon fuel container)

This is what ~20 lbs of FATMAT EXTREME ($130 for 100sq-ft on ebay) looks like. My origional plan was to apply it directly to the firewall but i got the bright idea to just attach it to the firewall matt : bad idea! It took way to long and was a huge hassel to get everything into place. > If I had it to do over again I would just apply the fatmat directly onto the firewall and lay the stock mat on top.

I plan on eventually taking the door skins of to be redone and I will install some fatmat on the doors as well at that time.

That's all the pics for now. Time to get cracking on the new carpet install ( absolutley zero precut holes )

LS2 vs ls1
6.0 vs 5.7
400hp vs 350hp

A better question would be why go LS2 instead of LS ,3,7,9 And the ansewer to that is $$$ or rather lack of $$$ lol

oops above post should have been this...

I ended up removing the bottom layer my stock carpet for its foam that contours perfectly to the floor of the car.

I went ahead and installed some of the hatch trim. Down the road I would like to replace it with some peices that are inbetter condition, or recondition mine. I've got the carpet trimmed down and only need some minor adjustments to finalize it's position

Atthis point I'm ready to turn my attentionback to the bay. I've got a bit more trimming to do on my firewall lip and I need to drop the fuel lines then after a good sanding Iwillbe ready to paint.
