1st gen 302 T5 swap

Hello, so I have been driving this 84 around for a few days and have always wanted to do a v8 rx7 since i have had a few v8 vegas. This is my plan to keep it simple-302 HO roller engine from a t bird mustang etc, T5 transmission, stock rear end with a limited slip 3rd member swap which I already have. I also want to do a carb conversion on the 302 to keep it very simple and quick. Does anybody have a very similar build thread to this that I can check out? Any advice? I would ike to use the stock alternator and stock mustang exhaust manifolds. Do you guys recommend the grannies kit? Thank you.

You'll definitely love the V8 torque . My radiator and my differential are from grannies and work very well . If you get everything ie mounts rad adapters for the gauges you will save your self headaches down the line! Since the engine is from a Tbird I would stick with an automatic from the same car makes it much easier and the diff will thank you for it . The diffs are not that strong i have blown up 2 and couple guys i know had also blew theres up as well and mine was the glse with the big axles . My buddy got forged axles for his . But i wouldn't waist my time my carrier literally went out the back of the housing which i welded up once . You have more options with a 8.8 and if you get one from a explorer or newer ranger 31spline axles and rear disc brakes already there with no hard to get parts or buy one from grannies . But once its done it be a blast ! Post pics

Anything new going on. I'm interested in following someone's 302/5.0 grannies swap. I have a SA I bought not running with inspiration to put a 50 efi T5 swap. Grannies web site made it sound common but not too many threads with the swap. Seems to be all big $ LS FD swaps( yes I am a little jealous)

Also planning on doing this swap lol. I think I'm gonna buy the mounts from grannys. But it seems to have pretty decriptive details on their site. How far are you with going through with this?

I am stating a new job this week and I am going to have to get adjusted to some change before I get into it. I live in CA and want to talk to what they call a smog referee before I invest any money into a donner vehicle and swap kit from Granny's. Granny's does have seem to have a good descriptive and parts on the swap but I am always wary of salesmen telling me something is easy. Do you know if stock efi manifolds will clear the hood?

No clue for 1st gen. I know on FCs it won't so it probably won't with the FB either. I think efi looks like a **** ton more work. I'm just gonna go carb'd with my set up.
