1981 to 1985 Rear brake calipers
The title pretty much says it all. My rear calipers are in a bad way and I wanted to get some new/rebuilt pieces. It seems that they are not available from any of the major re-builders or parts stores. I have a guy who rebuilds hydraulics near by but he gets exotic car prices and I will only go to him as a last resort. So the question is,are there any calipers that will work with out too much trouble and are readily available?

There are no direct-fit calipers from another model. A bracket can be made to adapt to another caliper but you would need to find a suitable replacement that will fit inside a 13" stock wheel. If going to a bigger wheel, there would be more choices. With this said, it will take some efforts and design work.
The easiest thing to do short of making an adapter would be to just rebuild what you have. We are all running into this issue.

Mine are in such bad shape I don't even think they can be rebuilt. I can get them sleeved but the pistons are shot, the bleeders are broken and the seals and dust covers are shot. I have the re-build kits but they don't help much. I have been trying to cross check some parts and it looks like the early Miata calipers are close. The mounting to the bracket looks the same but I need to put one next to the RX 7 to see if it will fit. I can adapt the brake lines and e brake so I don't think that that would be a problem.
