TII NA streetport dynoed at 186whp

finally decided to take it to the dyno after the street tune and see where the initial shakedown of the engine will put out. this is a full s5 tII motor including the 9.0 compression rotors and stage1 turbo port. you can follow fritz's buildup here https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/sick-being-turbo-going-na-380348/
this motor was made to be turbo, but he later decided to stay NA atelst for now. so to properly do an NA setup some things would have been done diffrent and would yeild more power. i had some extra time to dyno the diffrence between the RB street header and the NA stock exhuast manifold. the power was well worth putting the header on. on a stock port NA this wouldnt be as big of a diffrence.

owner: Fritz

relevant mods:
haltech e6x
s5 tII rotors
4 port turbo motor
stage 1 street port (turbo)
non resonated midpipe 2.5"
unknown catback (that i think the mufflers are startign to blow on)
racing beat header and stock header

very good power doesn't a stock turbo2 only make 170rwhp and 170rwhtq ?

Nice numbers.
We got to tune a 13B-REW with no turbos on an E6A, and we only managed to get 130hp at the wheels on a DynoJet.
We were using a stock NA exhaust manifold though...

I'm wondering what was the power difference between that and the header?
It looks like the dyno graph has you at around 135 to 140 at around 6,000RPM, so it's close...

reted the run with 175whp on that chart is with the stock header. the 186whp one is the one with rb header. if thats what you were asking. sorry if i didnt make that clear

Once again good job Kahren

I think you should redo the exhaust, though, and try your header out.

Word, and try the SDJ header also, and the true dual one.

I remember when I got an NA and told everyone I wanted 200HP with a port and bolt ons, they said I was wrong. Now 220-230 is starting to look more promising.

Thanks!
Keep up the good work

Wow, I didn't know you could get that much power out of a 4 port N/A...

What kind of turbo setup is the owner going for?

this car can put out more with a better exhaust system and better tune. the car was tuned very conservatively. with that it should do close to 200. and if the car had an NA port instead of a turbo one and 9.7 rotors it would have been over 200. a better intake manifold could also be used then the t2 one, and yield in even more power.

the owner was originally going for aroudn 350 whp turbo setup. things have changed since and i am not sure what his new goal is.

do you have any pictures of the porting? People say that you found a nice port design that could make 200 + rwhp. I see this is with a haltech anbd not the stock ECU or any piggy back.

So do you have any pictures of the port?

Nice work. You need to make a trip down here and we'll try some new combos on the engine dyno

Any updates on the car? I'm building a similar setup for an 85 GSL and I'm very interested in this engine. I do have some 9.7:1 rotors that i'm using and the irons are S5. My rotor housings are S4 TII and intake manifolds are S4 TII. I plan on using 460s for primaries and 550s for secondaries. I have the full header-back Racing Beat streetport exhaust for a first gen. I will be running the engine with a Megasquirt. I'm hoping for a curb weight of under 2100 and eventually 210+ RWHP if I get a different intake manifold someday.

I'm building a 9.4:1 s4 BT block up to be used w/ a hybrid turbo. clearanced rotors, balanced, yada yada. built to rev up a little
This more and more makes me want to do a real header and do it n/a for a while. Maybe it'll be a jekyl 'n hyde rx-7

Do it, NA rocks! You can always go with a turbo later. Since your going to be balancing the rotating assembly anyway, why not bevel the edges of the rotors to pick up a little more port timing?

Quick Update: Car has been garaged while I have been busy with school but project should resume sometime this summer. As stated above I need to replace the blown exhaust, and then get the car more road worthy, with new suspension and brakes which should be going in, June/July. Then god-willing, back to the dyno to see if we can break 200whp...

Well the project is finally being resumed, Kahren is in the process of replacing suspension, brakes, and exhaust at the moment.

Hopefully with RB Header/Catback car will make more power, we'll have to wait and see.
