S4 N/a First time out on the track.......

Hey all I finally got a chance to go to the 1/4 mile track out here. I didn't do too well but I didn't want to beat the **** out of my car. But I did improve my times a little. Here are my stats I did five runs but only 4 timeslips were recorded the first one was no god because they were having sensor troubles or something. I also only got on accurate MPH# when I ran in lane two the other lane shows I was going 1 or 2 mph

Run# 1: Lane 2
Reaction=1.355
60ft= 2.379
MPH 83.51
ET 16.479

Run#2: Lane 1
R/t 1.213
60ft 2.377
MPH 2.79(incorrect duh)
ET 16.363

Run# 3: Lane 1
R/t .881
60ft 2.307
MPH 2.80(wrong)
ET 16.265

Run# 4: Lane 1
R/t .616
60ft 2.325
MPH 2.81 wrong
ET 16.230

Overall the car sucked from what I was hoping to get. I expected mid 15's with it but no cigar. The runs were with my 87 Sport mods are as follows: Mazdatrix uncollected exhaust(true duals), stock modified air box, SS clutch line, removed PS, removed A/c, Removed stereo, removed smog, SS oil cooler lines, SS brake lines, Axxis metal brake pads, mazda racing short shifter, first gen S-AFC conservativly leaned out(roughly 2-4% in each adjustment point), front strut bar, FD alt with dual pully, S4 clutch-type LSD installed, competition moto mounts, new tranny mounts, competition diff mount, synthetic oils in tranny and diff, brembo front rotors.

The engine has Roughly 165k miles on it and compression numbers in the high 90's and low 100's. I still have all the interior and ran the car with some of my tools and the spare out back. I am running all season Potenza RE950's on the BBS vert wheels which came with the car. I wanted to run the car with my CAI because although it was cold in the night my engine bay temps were around 159* F at the staging lanes. I could have used some 50* air in there. I hope to return and see what more I can improve on my reaction time and my launch technique.

What was the humidy like? That can cause your car to run like a dog. I'm sure you can get your 60' down to 2.2 with enough practice, that will cut about 2 tenths off of your time right there.

Humidity is normally around 60-85% I don't know the exact number but I would guess around 70%. South texas sucks like that. To give you a bench mark of sorts my friends FD ran a 15.6 about two months ago. Which is pathetic.

The only other FC that ran was MAX's car and he was having major problems. He ran a 28 because his car could not run at WOT down the track. Hopefully next time out the rest of the guys come with us.

Don't worry we can put some duct tape on it and we can have another go at it.

It should easily nudge into the 15's if you get aggressive with the launch.

The first time I ran my '86 (stock) I got a 16.2, 16.3, and a 16.4. It's pretty much par for the course.

Yeah I need to get with it though. I don't like having a moderately modded N/a doing stock numbers.

Maybe you need a tune up. I'm guessing your 5th/6th ports are working, but maybe you should check that out.

Or maybe its the True DUALS!

If anything its my plugs. I am using the TII's old plugs because I swapped my good and new ones from the sport into it so it would start. Those plugs I had pics of are over 10k miles old.

Yo,

Ain't that a bitch? I feel your pain.

NA's are a pain to drag. I'm stoked about my 15.3 @ 91, but would be super stoked for a sub 14 second.

Oh well, we'll take 'em in the twisties, right?

Yea I have taken many on the turns already. Next time I am going with new plugs and my CAI installed. I'll show them! If I can get to a 15.5 I'd be happy.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that these runs were all with a 3.9 ring gear in the differential. That may account for a little bit of the slowness.

I had a N/A 12A 6Port with no port sleeves and twin 2inch X 2.5 metre system finished just past the cabin, Modified RX2 Carby in a 1300 Kg Mazda B1600 ute ran 16.8 @ 80 Mph 1/4Mile 89 mph in a 13B 6port would be possible
BTW ear plugs and Helmet didn't stop my vision from blurrring because of the very load racket it made. It was so loud that when I raced a 350 Monaro with the exhaust off that he couldn't hear his motor to shift gears!!! I beat him by a half a door too!
