first trip to the speedway
so I took my 89 TII to the local 1/8th mile drag strip, something i have never done before, in any car. usually if i drag race, it is 1/4 mile. so i didn't know what to expect, but I knew i would have fun.
I ended up making a total of 6 passes in a two hour span, letting the car cool off after two-three passes. I noticed the clutch slipping quite a bit from 2nd to 3rd gear, only a very tiny bit from 1'st to 2nd. It wasn't me because I had it totally engaged, just couldn't handle the load i guess.
I ended with a best time of
.447 ---------r/t
60ft ---------2.026
330foot @--- 5.938
-------------58.22mph
1/8----------9.108 @
-------------77.39mph
mods are: full 3" turbo back custom exhaust, straight through mufflers. apexi intake filter (very dirty), bilstein coilover/eibach springs, new plugs/wires (3 months), BDC port/polish TB, stock turbo/motor 98xxx miles, 255High Pressure Walbro FP with new wiring, sport spoiler, ehhh that's it i think.
I should have had better times than what i posted given my mods, but I cannot be certain, especially since i was using r compound tires in the rear 15" and my street tires on 18" up front along with the dirty air filter. I didn't want to swap them all out. plus it helped a bit with weight transfer.
what do you guys think?

so after reading this post again, you guys are saying that i should have had a faster time, i.e. 81 mph- 85 mph ? i would agree but my clutch was slipping quite a bit so i know i lost at least 3/4 of second if not more.

I don't think his times/speed are that far off. Are you still using the stock intake tube going to the turbo? That is pretty friggin' restrictive right there....
I pulled out my slip, and looked at my 1/8th and it would compare as follows
60' - 2.028
330' - 5.630
1/8th-8.636
mph - 82.27
On stock motor/turbo but with custom intake eliminating the stock intake tube....and 720's in the secondaries.

i was thinking about that tubing, but what does that matter if i have to go through the afm anyhow? do i make a separate tube? i also know that my super dirty air filter didn't help at all, i almost got beat by a 2003 TransAm with gutted exhaust yesterday. that shouldn't happen.
feel free to post me up a pic of what i can do to create better air flow.

Night and day difference when I got rid of the stock tube.....just went to true value and got a 3" to 2" reducer, a short 3" dia. piece of exhaust pipe, and a 3" rubber coupler. The coupler, couples the AFM, and the 3" pipe, and coming off the 3"pipe, the 3" to 2" reducer goes straight into the turbo.
Note: I already had my 720's and SAFC when I opened this up, but I had to turn up my fuel considerably to keep my AFRs safe.

I am loading plenty of fuel, so much in fact that when the motor is cold, it drowns it unless i open up the throttle. I don't think i will have to worry about that as a factor, esp. since i am pushing 9-10psi w/out fuel cut.
do you have a pic or two that you could share? what do you do with the three extra lines coming out of the stock tubing?

I'll see if I can take a picture tonight. It's been so long since I've seen my stock tube, I don't recall what extra lines you're talking about.
Off memory, there are 2 vac lines running from my turbo to my boost controller...1 running to pressure sensor...and that's about it.
I'll see if I can post a pic of my setup tomorrow.

1st pic kinda shows the overall look of it.....whereas the 2nd pic shows up close the components. As you can see, the 3" pipe between the coupler & reducer just has to be long enough to clamp both pieces on.
