And my timing, will I have to retard some? right now it's at 20deg BTDC. One of the other things I think about when trying to tune to 11.5 is that leaves my tuning margin very small. Trying to tune at the track is a little crazy anyways, guess I'll have to put the thing on the rollers.
thanks
chuck
Nobody could answer that, and remember, I clearly said if you like your setup then my advice means nothing. Obviously you know what you are doing, so if 10.5 is where you want to be, then thats all that matters.

On another side note, you obviously have the safety mods for the trap speeds, so would you mind telling me where you got the rollbar? I am obviously still banned from the track...

J,

please don't take any thing I say as me being a smart ***. That's the last thing I want people to think. Honestly, I really am interested in the power difference between the two afr readings.. This is kinda the first "race" car for me and there are lots to learn. From here out is going to get tough and all the info/help/suggestion are very helpful.

Cage? Part of it was done by a local guy and I finished the rest. Might change nest month to something more or better. The wife has higher standards then the track rules.

Thanks for your inputs

Well, you will make more HP on higher AFRs and with the water injection, you wouldnt be seeing much more (if any) additional stresses to the motor. You can CLEARLY hear breakup in one of your video passes, and I would assume that you have one hell of an ignition setup to light something that dense. Thats my honest opinion, you need to take some fuel out. Hell, just bump it to 11.0. However, wait and let some of the other high HP guys chime in, maybe they feel different.

I had not pegged you for a smart-***, you made a good point. If you like the car they way it is, then there is no reason to mess with it just because some guy on a forum said so...

Thanks for the info on the cage. Looks like I am just going to get that pre-fab one from Jegs.

About the cage, I've seen the pre-fabed ones from Jegs. After all the welding is done, it looks really nice. Meets all track requirments. If you want I can get a few pics, it's in a Mitsu but it's basicly the same set up.

Damn Chuck, it seems you're on the ball. I should be tuning my at the end of the month. No high boost this time, as I dont have my Alch injection yet. I should dyno 500rwhp, just dont know how much boost. I may try to keep it under 20 psi until then. I may swing down there for some action once I finish it.

Little update

This is chuck8313btsds. changed my user name to sleeper7 april 16 07

went with a GTS .96a/r with a 70mm H housing with 3" out, anti surge front cover.

First time at the track with the new turbo so I retarded the timing 3-4 deg and added around 7% more fuel to my map at 20psi and adjusted the map accordingly. First pass got em a 12et at 130 at 1.7bar. Left the line like I was at a intown stop light. Next two runs I added more fuel to the rpm map. Times got slower. Set the rpm map to the original setting for the next few runs and leaned my fuel trim **** 2%. No traction, 60ft was in the high 1.8s. trapped 134+. so this is my new mph times. et was 11.0-11.2

Going back to the track wen. to lean it out some more and to add back the 3-4deg of timing. I may be talking out of my *** like the guy in the ESPN commercials but I think this FC will go 140mph and if I can learn how to drive the et should fall in the mid maybe low 10s at 1.7-1.8bar.

My second gear burn outs are crazy now. 1.5 bar and 8000rpms, then all the sudden the tires grab traction and away the car goes. One day I'm going to hit the starter.

Don't think I'll do my goal of 9.9 with the SDS ecu this year. Something is holding the power back and don't think it's the SDS but going electromotive tech GT next month. Was made a offer I could not refuse. Have to run there stickers now.

That .8 more et is going to be rough on this set up. have to do some research in to whats limiting my power out put with this turbo. have to monitor my exhaust back pressure some how.

in car video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DSkBC15-0U

Check out the AFR gauge in 4th gear. EGT was just under 800c in 4th gear. Maybe I need to add a few more deg of timing.

ah man, you let that civic get ya!

your car is definitely haulin the mail... i'm kinda sad your switching to the tech gt. i always liked your car because you used the sds and noone esle wants to touch those.

i haven't messed with the tech gt yet but it seems to be mildy watered down version of the tecIII which isn't a bad thing

Any idea what the weight of the car is?

You need a better trans. You got an easy .2-.3 seconds if you get that shift better.

Put it on the scales tonight and it was 2730lbs with me in it.
134.3mph "should" be good for 10.5et but I am easy on the drivetrain. It's all stock turboII stuff.

still running the SDS.

Trying to get the TechGT trigger wheel to mount to the FC pulley. They just sent me a blank wheel so I have to drill holes to mount it to the pulley. Going to send this out to have it done right, before I start on the wiring.

update on the new Tech GT install

Ended up mounting the trigger wheel myself. Took several hours to get the mounting holes and center hole drilled correctly.

The new unit is in and running, still have not yet tuned the WOT yet. In a week or so the car will get some dyno time.

did you get a new camera? i have to wait till after the 20th to work on the car, if you think it will work, i want to buy your old intake manifold but we need to modify it first. i want to mount the throttle body opening to the front of the car so i can do a v mount with like 12 inches of piping.
