dyno results!

just got back from the dyno, from an initial tune, just to get it good enough for a drift event this saturday. I was happy with the results, for the most part. I ended up with I think 228whp. I had I think 232 at one point, but then we figured out how to change the maps to cover 9k rpm instead of 16k rpm, and it messed up some stuff. but with very mild ign advance, and fairly quick tuning, I think 228whp is pretty good. the only thing I didn't like is that I need a bigger radiator, and my turbo won't hold more then like 7psi to redline. lol. I'm up around 14psi in lower rpm, then it bleeds down to around 12psi (I think) by about 6k rpm, then after that it just shoots down to about 6-7psi. damn high altitude...

oh, and for RETed, the highest intake temps I saw were 110.9 degrees(on the haltech. it was around 103 degrees at what the 9psi (absolute pressure, since I'm at high altitude... showed around 12-13psi on the boost gauge). it came up to about 110 degrees at idle. never saw it go past 111. if it is possible, I would be happy to post up some data logs, with intake temp and pressure.

here's my setup:
S5 TII motor. 1600cc secondaries
haltech E8
boost increased to ~13psi(bleeds off to about 7 by redline )
3 inch exhaust. straight through. cone filter on turbo inlet.
custom V-mount IC using afco scirroco radiator, and old TRUST core. (need bigger radiator)
no emissions, and that was with no PS, which I just connected.

I think thats it as far as engine goes.
I'll try and get a dyno graph up here in a minute.

edit: I'll get the dyno charts up tonight when I get back from work.

That's about the same temps I've seen with FMIC set-up's.

sweet. so v-mounts do work then.

so here's the last pull I made. not the most power we made all day, but really good torque. after we made the tuning points closer, it messed stuff up a little so we had to hurry and re-tune it to a safe level before I ran out of time.

max power I had at one point was 233, with like 218lb ft of torque....

as you can see, the fuel can still be leveled out quite a bit more, and then we can make the timing a little more aggressive.

The graph looks good, so this is a stock motor stock turbo setup eh? looks nice and even, why wasnt it mapped out with RPM instead of speed? what spark plugs did you use? what fuel did you run? only thing i can suggest, but this just takes time and quite road tuning, is make the AFRs as flat as possible, in the power band, but again, WOT passes on a dynojet is never the same as street tuning, thats why i do mostly street tuning and then bragging passes for full power.

Hope to see you with more power later on. Oh! whats your ignition system? Stock?

yeah, stock motor, stock turbo, stock ignition system. just using the normal NGK plugs and plug wires 91octane fuel (highest grade we get here). and yeah, like I said, we kinda had to rush through some things at the end to get it at a safe level for the drift event saturday and didn't have time to get the line nice and flat. just made sure it wasn't below 10, and was below 12's. but I'll be going back once I get a bigger radiator for some more extensive tuning. maybe I'll find some more money and pick up a bigger turbo as well...

is it normal for the stock turbo to drop off so much boost at higher rpm? I thought I would at least be able to hold 10psi to redline.... maybe its just the altitude...

I'm having the same problem on my S5 TII engine, stock turbo, w/ microtech. I couldnt hold 10psi, kept falling off to 4lbs. I had 2.5 exhaust though. I was only able to make 215whp, and 200lbs. But my hp flat lined at 6500rpm(4lbs boost) and torque was 200 from 3k-5500 rpm. I plan on doing a turbo upgrade and 3inch exhaust.
Also im in Atlanta
