does the s5 stage 3 get the same treatment as the s4 stage 4? If so do they put down anymore power or spool any quicker?

No. The stage 3 turbo has a T04B comp housing and the 360 degree thrust bearing is optional at your expense. The stage 4 turbo has a 60-1 T04B comp housing and is a P trim turbine and comes standard with the 360 degree thrust turbine.

Brian over at BNR told me that the S4 turbo was better for more overall power with the sacrifice of a little less low end power. Thats the reason I went with a S4 stage 4 BNR turbo on my S5 TII vert

Hey guys.

Sorry I haven't chimed in until now! This is a long thread. You guys are great customers and I really appreciate your business.

I am sorry the turn around time isn't as great as you'd like. I have been devoting my time and money in developing CAD programs for most of my machine work. I am getting so flooded with business I have to start mass producing work. Since I work alone and have no employees I had to figure out how to improve quality, and turn around time. Its working but I won't be able to tell a difference until I have a system figured out. I am starting to do Supra MKIV hybrids similar to the stage 3 FD twins that will be out on the market soon and dyno well over 500 RWHP. Those guys have been waiting for years to make an effordable twin turbo upgrade that is reliable at higher boost levels. I do about 10-20 300ZX turbos a month now and ofcoarse my backbone is the RX7 turbos. Anyway, hope this didn't bore you to tears!

Take care,
Bryan@BNR

Keep up the good work Bryan! I'm sure some people would like to see faster turn around times, but the quality of work has been great and I'm sure some people don't mind.

Hopefully I might be able to try out a Stage 4 from you one day.

Thanks for chiming in. I figured you had a surge of RX7 customers (from different threads here) but I had no idea you did that many turbos by yourself.

Thanks for offering a reasonably priced, performance turbo unit. Please take your time and continue with your high quality work.

Cool, sounds great.
What rpm do you start building boost, then when do you notice full boost in low gears?
Have you had the chance to see what power your puts down?

I got a call from the delivery person. My turbo is here today but they need a signature and I'm at work. So for sure I'll get it tomorrow.

Pics to come.

As long as your car is tuned well and retains the emmissions system, it shouldn't change the outcome of the testing.

ok, so I finally got around to upload my BNR stage 2 turbo pics. Received last Saturday and the install is this Saturday: (i have several pics but I figured 2 would be enough)

Now, this is my first turbo so I don't know what is ok and what isn't but will the thinner part of the cold side (top pic) be an issue or is that just visual?

You should be good to bolt it strait to your engine. I have an engine set up with a S4 or S5 turbo manifold and I clearance the compressor housing to fit without rubbing the lower intake manifold. The only thing you will have to do is make or buy a turbo inlet duct to go from the inlet of the turbo to the air flow meter or filter.

I had problems bolting the lower oil line to my S5 stage 3, one of the center bolts got in the way. I ended up just shaving it down a little with a dremel and it fit fine.

it fit perfect other than that, i could see where brian grinded down some areas so it wouldnt hit the LIM. very nice fitment job

i got mine up and running wednesday and did some street tuning today with the rtek. it holds about 6 psi steady on the wastegate spring. I tuned for mid 11s afr and the butt dyno indicates its already faster than the stocker at 9 psi and im sure the turbo hasnt even broken a sweat yet haha

360 I think might be pushing it a little for a stage 3 BNR turbo. Im running a stage 4 s4 turbo and am hoping for 340-350whp on a good tune and stock ports, and around 15-16psi with possible alcohol injection if needed.

sounds good, how long until you get some dyno time? Im dying to see some dyno figures of these turbos.
I have a mild highflow, similar to the stage 1, but without any wastegate modifications. I currently make 195rwkw's, 263rwhp (we talk in kw's downunder) at 14 psi & being limited to a 2.5inch exhaust system bcos of the stock s4 wastegate.
Im tossing up whether to go to a stage 3 or 4 BNR & shooting for 250rwkws, around 340rwhp or going large single setup with gt35r & 300rwkw's.
My current FMIC, Intake, exhaust suits a highflow setup. But im uncertain whether i want to limit myself with one, or have the usual boost drop in high rpms you get with highflow stock turbos.
I guess Ill wait to see some more dyno backed results before i make my decision, im in the process of buying a house so it can wait a while i guess.

dude my stage 1 turbo for some reasons unknown doesnt put you in the seat till after 5k @11 psi. but if brian hops back on here do you take any money off if i send you a stage one with like 5k miles and want a stage 4, you know so you could reuse the stage one stuff?? ill be needing to put this friend of mines car in the rearveiw mirror soon . he is swapping the rb25 single turbo neo motor in his 95 240 and willbe shooting for about 300 rwhp.

p.s. pretty sure with a tune i can take him with my current set-up but would loveto smoke his ***.

I should be throwing it on a dyno the weekend after this one coming up. Ive been having a lot of problems with my haltech and my ignition system, Im fairly certain ive fixed it so hopefully. My car has been down way to long, I couldnt even take it to Sevenstock :/. Ill keep you guys all posted though. Brian over at BNR is extremely helpful as well. Hell answer any questions you have for the turbos and will make you some recomendations according to your goals.
