haha, time is enemy here, i got a lot of other projects i work on, so sometimes my own car gets put away. i had the racing beat header, that i didnt liekall that much for this setup, its a ncie header but i will fabricate a piece that hopefully makes more power. i am gonna try to get as close to 200whp as possible on teh stock ports before i pull the motor for a ported one.

Thanks for the interesting pics. BTW, have you drove the car w/ that intake? Can you describe a bit about difference? For instance, do you feel you lost low end power? Do you feel more direct throttle response? etc...

the throttle responsse is instant where with teh stock manifolds its mushy and delayed. i have yet to go to a road circuit with this setup. to really get a feel for it. the car is still under construction it hsoudl be complete soon enouf, then i will get a chance to really tune it. as of now i gotta finish up that body work

just wanted to do an update, i went to the dyno couple weeks back with a custom header and a RB presilencer instead of a straight pipe with the stock header. i made some tq back and peak power went up a bit but not much, the header was tuned more for the midrange as you can see. i will be making a new exhaust again and goign back to test a few more things, i am getting to teh final stages of having the manifold released soon. here is the run.

i haven't looked at it extensively, but would that manifold work with a stock ecu? i plan to go haltech (plan to =/), but couldn't think of why that mani wouldn't work on a stock computer. given, the TPS would need a bracket and the piping would have to re-accomodate the AFM, but what else?
good numbers, btw. i wish there was a dyno of a stock ecu car with the stock intake manifold system and stock ports to compare to.

the manifold woudl theoretically work with the stock ecu, but the afm wouldnt physically fit the way the manifold sits, it would hit the shock tower. so not really, the afm is also a restriction for the motor. so get that haltech!

i am completely speaking theorhetically, but i would think that the pipe could be bent and still maintain the stock AFM/location.
i plan to buy a haltech before anything else (that costs decent money), but couldn't think of why the stock ecu and
accessories couldnt be used.
how much were you planning on selling the manifold for? i'm going to have to talk to scalliwag about what he would charge to
make one eventually. i have a different, more exotic idea for throttle body/manifold designs, but i haven't spoken
to anyone who would be able to tell me if it's stupid or not.

the reason you cant sell parts for NAs for more money is because most peopel bought NAs because they couldnt afford the t2s. you alwyas have to keep that in mind, if you use a more compilicated setup or one that requires more parts that will just jack up the price and not many people will be attracted to it. i mean how many people do you know that are runing a haltech on a NA, that should give you a pretty good example. but i am tryign to change this as haltech being th eonly expensive part you have to buy or any other standalone for that matter that gets rid of the afm and lets you use a more suitable manifold for the engine. my manifold uses the stock throttle body, the stock fuel rail and the stock injectors, thi ssignificantly can reduce the price of the manifold. a typical twm setup will be a grand by the time you are done. mysetup will most likely be a 1/3 of that price, and will get you very comparible results. the stock fc fuel system is good for over 200 at the wheels, so with teh stock ports you wont have to upgrade the fuel system once you do port it it will be aroudn 220+ whp and then you shoudl think about puttign some 550cc in teh secondary rail, which again can be found pretty cheap.

heh, i dont know what you were going off about. i was confused the first half of that. i wasn't referring to this being sold for N/As, but was wondering ecu/accessory compatibility. i make the same arguement that you just made when people bash N/A numbers. they never consider how many large port and half bridge (etc) T2s there are with standalone vs the amount of N/As with such a route.
my question was simply if there was any reason the manifold could (definately) NOT be used with a stock ecu. it was a sher curiosoty question as i don't plan to try.
as for talking to scalliwag about building a manifold, it was neither to compete with you nor to be offered widely, but as a friend helping a friend on a project for a certain price. i like your simplistic setup and am looking forward to a price and release party.
btw - i currently have a rebuilt (~5000 miles) n/a with small streetport (no tapering) and no aux ports. the "cylinders" (ports) were also cleaned up. i'm anxious to have a haltech and custom intake manifold. keep us updated!

heh, well thanks for the preemptive answers to unasked questions.
no tapering, the ports weren't extended enough to need it. only cleaned up. its a 6 port with the aux port sleeves removed. the aux ports were also cleaned up a bit. no drastic porting at all. we (bdc and i) had no idea what would run well still using the stock ecu, so stayed mild.

nope. it was a pretty mild portjob from what i remember. i probably wanted to go bigger than what he did. after being down for 7 months, i just wanted the car to run again. i dont remember what the ports look like now. i didn't have my camera on me at the time and bdc's camera was broken, otherwise i'd have pictures.

i think the TOP end numbers didnt get better because the 2.25 id presilencer from racign beat is pretty much maxed out, and even if the car wanted to make more power it cant, since the exhaust is too restrictive. well c what happens with the new exhaust. i am goign to go back on the dyno in a day or two with the new exhaust and well c if it makes a diffrence.

hey man im really interested in your manifold.. be sure to keep us updated and when/if you will sell them, ill buy one when you do if it can make those power numbers... good luck and also could you post some pics of it installed and what kind of intake you had to fab up for it... thanks

Congrats on the awesome numbers! I wish when I had my n/a S5 I would have taken it to a dynojet. Would have been an interesting comparison. I'd love to see a n/a Rx-7 make a honest 200rwhp without nitrous.
BTW, my old car made 167rwhp on a mustang dyno (It reads %10 less than a dynojet...or 183ish rwhp on a dynojet.) is all we could squezze out of my car, using the stock ecu/afm etc. The stock afm would max out around 6,500rpms, and my car made peak power between 7,500 and 8k.
