interesting...my traps are always very consistent with the dyno #s the car put down and I can get within .2mph of my previous trap every run at our track! trap speeds are very indicative of the cars power even with a moron driving as everyone knows. this local kid here in a 525rwhp supra still trapped 126 while getting a 13.8 LOL

for example my car on the last setup put down 379rw with a trap of 121 and on this turbo I ran boost that would yield about 390rwhp and trapped 122
I've seen a car with ~420rwhp trap 125 and and another with 353 trap 118
I agree that tires and the track make a big difference as well as temperature

I'd like to hear more about your car so we can see what is going on. How did you break those parts? Explain....I could always use some advise

Couple of recent runs for you guys. Usually I can cut about a 2 on streets. But these runs where learning to use the launch control on my racelogic, not doing to great as you can see. My clutch engagement is going so It wasn't working to well. Tires 275 KDW's

Running a weeny TD06-20g turbo @ 12lbs, water injected, 11.5 afr, not to shabby I suppose.

I've trapped 118mph long time ago on non-seq @ 18lbs on 285x17 firehawks, the day after dynoing 380hp so im probably close to that range.

That was probably me, those runs where in Nov 2003. Haven't been to the track since then, spent most of the year fighting with my wastegate trying to get more than 12lbs of boost. Actually hope to get back out to G ville next month again before they close down for the year. I've driven Carlos's car almost as much as he has, I rotate the tires for him every few months so it won't be all screwed up from sitting...he's in the gulf bossing around a bunch of young rotor heads(chopper pilots) When I get pulled over I always till the cops it most be that other guy in the yellow car...we like to use the same roads to test on :-) I look forward to his safe/speedy return. If you get up this way shoot me a message.

We had a private track night, at a back-woods county track, and had more than a few people comment on what seemed to be low trap speeds. Why? I don't know. Can you explain a documented 50 WHP increase (ported engine, ported twins, and 2 psi) producing only a 2 mph difference in trap speed? I can't.

Unfortunately I broke my diff. and mounts several passes later and won't be able to get to another track day this year.

Nocab72 and Badog have both tangled with my car this summer. Maybe one will chime in and give thier opinion of the RWHP I'm closer to.
i noticed some awesome numbers coming out of thr rx7 stores dyno...perhaps there is soemthing wrong there. 116mph traps is not 380. I think dynos can lie....both intentionally and unintentionally. Fact of the matter is that mph in 1/4 cant lie. I think its interesting to note that alot of cars coming out of the rx7store are dynoing with better numbers then the norm.

Intentionally used different dynos for just that reasoning. Was dyno'd on a Dyno Jet, and then the next day under almost identical humidity and temps, on the Mustang Dyno. The Mustang Dyno was recalibrated, using the supplied weight and instructions, and also reset to have no "correction" factor, the numbers came out within 1 RWHP. This also happened to be the lowest # the Mustang Dyno would produce.

Unfortunately my car is down and will not have a chance to run it again, on a NHRA track (National Trail or Norwalk) versus the Marion County Raceway, this year.

Oh, and the 12.5 @ 116 on street tires was at National Trail Raceway on a 80 degree day in late early Sept, the other was on a 55 degree night at Marion County in October.

As said before, we had a lot of comments about low trap speeds at Marion. Everyone who was racing that night had been to the NHRA tracks this summer.

have you ever gotten your car dynoed? When you shifted, do you recall lifting off the throttle?

I have similar mods, but only managed at best a 2.1 60' and a 13.8 1/4 mile....

nope never had it dynoed. i lifted off the throttle when i shifted, i thats what you mean. ive done it a lot, so i can shift pretty fast i guess. i was suprised it ran that quick also. i was expecting a 13.7 maybe. during the run i just did what came natural i guess. it went by so fast i dont remember what exactly i did

what mods do you have?

At that time I had 285hp at the fly at 12psi.
3 years old 225/50/16 Dunlop Sp9000 tyres, 18psi.
Dropped clutch at 3k RPM, no wheelhop, just spin.

13.4 at 106mph on street tarmac, no burnout.
