I'm curious to hear what ETs and 60 ft. times you've gotten on street tires (not drag radials).

Let's try this format:

I'll never run street tires with a single turbo but on my last car with the twins I ran 12.8@112 and I think the best I could manage was just under a 2.2 slipping the clutch. Kumho supras 245/45/16 22 tire pressure and I'm not sure how much rwhp but it wasnt that much. 300rw give or take 20

with the nitto drs I use now I know I could get a 1.7 easily and 1.6 if I ran 5-6 times. I got a 1.8 last time taking it easy not to break anything.

Bad idea period. It's a good way to destroy your diff. If you can't afford some spare rims and drag tires you most certainly cannot afford a new differential.

To whom were you speaking, Kevin? I have a TurboII Diff. in my car with 4.33 gears. I've spent a lot on the car over the last few months, so I didn't want to get tires right now. I just wanted to get a feel for what is a good time with street tires.

I suggest not even wasting your time going out there with street tires youll probably hop and surely spin till 3d gear. You can cut off half sec with a nice launch. Just borrow someones for a couple runs drs are good for a shitload of passes I have 11k miles on mine

the gainesville raceway is a really nice track too where were you thinking of going? I wanna see what that beast can do

The Tampa Racing Track Day at Bradenton is next Saturday from 5-10 PM. I'll probably end up getting the Nitto DRs in 285/35-18 and put them on my blingin' 18s. It's not the best setup, but it will better than street tires, and I won't have to take the wheels on and off and store them somewhere.

i pulled 2.1's on some shitty 245/50/16 yokohoma s306's when i was still twin

i dunno about everyone else, but i only get wheelhop when i use drag radials. the g-force t/a's i have on my stock wheels and my 285 wide falkens on my 18's don't hop at all, but as soon as the nitto 555r's get put on, it's back to wheelhop heaven

you may not be heating them up long enough
last time I got to the line after my burnout and had to move up for the last light the car almost stalled cause I was stuck to the pavement haha

also I revved up to 5k and had it right where it was about to engage and did a slow drop of the clutch while getting into the gas slowly at the same time. I cant see how people just drop the clutch. it cant be safe and I know it causes wheel hop

i can't heat them up at the track. anytime i try to brake torque the car, it hops violently. even when just doing a quick clutch drop to clean the tires off, it hops like crazy. i've already broken an axle trying to do a burnout. my street tires don't do that

stock rear end sucks.

maybe you have something wrong with your suspension then or it needs to be adjusted. I have a low mile 94 with stock suspension and after I back up into the waterbox and come out a couple feet I rev to 7000 and drop the clutch and hold the brakes. Ive sat there for 15 seconds burning out with no problems. Honestly if you are getting wheel hop like I used to you need to rev higher when you launch. the lower rpm slipping of the clutch causes vibration somehow. You have to get the clutch to engage pretty fast and have it at a high rpm. Man I wish I could go back to the track I'd go for 1.6 on the drs. They really give you shit here when you get into 11s. maybe for some riced out pos thats dangerous but thats nothing for our cars its totally stable

that's the problem, i can't get in the waterbox at my track. i'm stuck trying to do it on melted rubber and traction compound. i just do a slight rolling burnout and get 1.6's on my nitto dr's tho

i trap 116mph and i only make 340rwhp/

Base Mustang Dyno and Dyno-jet #s, no correction on different dynos.

The 116 on the Toyos/18s was probably pretty accurate considering the spinning of the tires pretty good on launch, spinning slightly @ 1st/2nd shift, and chirping the 2nd/3rd shift on a non-prepped track.

The 116 on ET streets (1st time ever) was a product of the hooking of the slicks and the subsequent (tire induced) float down the track destracting me into shifting late (8000-8300 RPMs) on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. That shit was scarey. Also, my freaking shift knob stripped, on the 1st run of the day, and I could not quick/power-shift.

I actually was running 13.2 @ 114 with 330 RWHP sequentially BEFORE the race-port and ported non-sequentials.

I'll beg to differ. Different tracks, different tires, different circumstances. I had been expecting to see AT LEAST 118 traps. But, I do see your point relating to the traps speed.

It was even a cold 55 degree dry nite with a freshly prepped track on the 11.8 pass. We had a private track night, at a back-woods county track, and had more than a few people comment on what seemed to be low trap speeds. Why? I don't know. Can you explain a documented 50 WHP increase (ported engine, ported twins, and 2 psi) producing only a 2 mph difference in trap speed? I can't.

Unfortunately I broke my diff. and mounts several passes later and won't be able to get to another track day this year.

Nocab72 and Badog have both tangled with my car this summer. Maybe one will chime in and give thier opinion of the RWHP I'm closer to.
