couple more tuning related questions...

Sounds about right to me.. if you're running good gas seems to make sense. Have a couple more questions... if you don't want to share I understand.. but I'm trying to learn here

1. what are/were your knock levels with your current settings (and under what conditions)?
2. what air/fuel ratio are you seeing at higher boost?
3. what spark plugs you running?
4. did you rescale your map sensor?
5. on your high boost setting, what row were you in? (row 20?)
6. do you have a clean datalog of one pull (say 3rd or 4th from low rpm to max rpm) with timing, knock, rpm and afr (and possibly more stuff)?

Thx and again nice work!!!

Ya I have different timing maps with more retarded timing for just 93 pump gas. Since I got my rebuilt motor, knock levels have been very low. I did datalog my dyno pulls and max knock was 17 and avg was between 2 and 8 throughout the last two rows, P19 & P20. I rarely ever see knock above around 13. I even tried a different knock sensor before, and still the same low knock data. My afr datalogging with my plx r500 is no higher than 11.3, it stays between 11-11.3 through most of the rpm range after hitting full boost, and it's richer than that when it first hits full boost. Attached is my datalogit file from my 411hp dyno pull. I datalog AFR with my PLX R-500 and datalogit at the same time and the datalogit for some reason shows the AFR a little higher, around .6 higher, so it's not really as lean as it shows on datalogit.

"2 NGK R7420-10 leading spark plugs and 2 BR10EIX trailing plugs." from my mods list at https://www.rx7club.com/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=67312

No I didn't rescale the map sensor, it's a apexi 3 bar plug n play map sensor, just have to choose "2. Option1" in datalogit settings 3 tab PIM scale.

Full Boost hits, map trace is on P20 N11-N16, the boost falls off some and it goes down to P19 N16-N20

Your signature says you have a LS1??? lol.

IC. Good info. Yup LS1, just swapped the car a few months ago. I'm still very interested in rotaries and tuning however. Seeing your results makes me want to put together another rotary FD. One day. As for the offset on the AFR... there's a menu in the aux section where you can set curve fitting to get the output range of your sensor to match between the WBO2 display and what the datalogit sees... you should probably calibrate it to free air... I think chuck westbrook has something to that effect in his notes. You probably want to run the same ground for the WB as you do for the PFC/datalogit to have as close to the same reference too. Not sure if you did any of that if you did, don't mean to insult ya.

Anyway.. I would love to see in car footage from you sometime, want to see how you bang the gears!

Were you getting any wheel hop?

What kind of suspension and diff bushing you running?

^^ kinda off topic...

Ya I know I can adjust that offset, just never bothered to do that yet, I should soon though. Thanks. I don't know if I will ever be able to get any in car footage, sorry haha. No wheel hop ever. You really should check my mods list haha, "Tein S Tech springs, Koni Sport shocks, rotary extreme toe links & trailing arms, solid diff mounts and new pillowballs.". I have the stock springs in the rear. Banzai racing diff. brace. 26x10.5x16 Mickey Thompson ET Streets

Excellent work! I wonder if mazda knew the stock turbos would one day produce more than double the originally designed horsepower.

makes me sick i hate my cities track as well as the elevation. my car dyno'd over 500 the wheels and my trap speed was 125 **** dont add up at the track here especially when people who can run 10's in my town can take the exact same car with no change to it and run 10's in another city

Thanks guys. I just recently blew my primary turbo at the track when shifting into 3rd gear right after getting a 1.48 60 ft time on my 3rd run of the year, (more about that in this thread), I was going to buy another set of stock twins and try to get a perfect pass and get a time closer to 10.7 which I think was possible with the 1.48 60 ft time, but then I was thinking about buying some bnrs, and then decided to buy a T04R single turbo kit for more power potential and all the other benefits of going single, so no more record setting passes haha.

Hi,

I need some advice, my local garage has said i cant achieve more then my current 270hp on the standard twins, however i read things like this and i become curious why he has said that.

The plan was to drop it into today for fuel pump upgrade and upgraded injectors, plus a remap, but that's when he said it will be pointless? and that i need to go single

how much boost are you running and how much do you want to turn it up? I was running late more booze than people recommend and greatly decreasing the life span of the turbos, which did not matter to me because I could replace them myself for cheap, and was trying to max out power with them. are they Trying to sell you a single turbo kit or put it on for you? if you have all the needed mods you can safely run more boost with the stock turbos just not as much as I did.
