I really like the LE37T rims. Is there any way possible left to have these rims fit on a rx7 without any fender rubbing? if not, then what custom wheel do you guys reccomend?

We didn't say your setup--235/40-18 with 8.5 x 18; 265/35-18 with 9.5 x 18, 40 mm offset--would rub, we just can't guarantee they will NOT rub. If you want a guarantee of no rubbing you'll need to stick to a much more conservative fitment (ie, no wider than 8.5 inches and 235 mm section widths) of tires and wheels.

I'm off to do some other fun stuff!

Have a safe and happy new year's eve!

ok I am back

anyways 235x40x18 should work with 40mm offset..No 100% guarantees..but you'ld never get one from anybody anyways...I ran 245x35x17 on 37mm offset and rubbed on full lock but my car was kinda low..Gab Super/Eibach combo...Now 235x40x18 is 6mm taller then what I was running but you will be 3mm more inside of the wheel well..I;m thinking you will be alright.

now for the rear..I ran 275x40x17...which is taller then 265x35x18..on a 45mm offset with the same eibach/Gabs...I had tons of room...I dont think you will have issues is 40mm offset and 265's on those 18x9.5...

Good luck

so, 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear? would 40mm offset be fine for both front and rear? any wheel sticking out?

thanks

pretty sure the fronts will remain tucked..rears might just edge out..but it will look NICE anyways... as for coilvers...it's all about budget !

you can spend ~1k----to $4k.. I'm running Koni sport yellow now with GC coilovers.(450/375)spring rates..but I have not rode around with them very much..so I cannot comment. My old Gab super R's with Eibach prokits are coilovers..but not height adjustable..they have about 25-30K on them..if you are interested..I need to clean them up and check them out ..make offer + shipping. Hedgehog made the comment his koni did not damp enough..be he is running 550/475 or something....much stiffer then I

alright. I got my wheels and tires set. I will probably look into coilovers. Dont know about my budget yet becuase I will need a lot of money for rims, tires, and coilovers. I might have to delay a little bit on when i buy these things. If i get interested in yours i will PM you. thanks everyone for helping me out with this dilemma. Now gotta find some coilovers.

You'll have to start another thread for coilovers--or you can do a search in this forum and find an old thread on coilovers and start that thread up again

Start a new thread on Coilovers

I checked in this forum--no current threads on coilovers. You'll have to start up a new one.

I won't have much to add to that thread, since I don't have aftermarket coil-over shocks.

Of course you DO know that you won't need 2.5-inch coilovers with the setup you'll be going with, don't you??

Good luck!

Stick with 245/35/18 on front, as that the 235/40s will be too tall. Budget conscious can p/u Falken GR Beta FK-451 for about $170. Decent tires that are fine for the street.

See:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=2

18X8.5 +40 and 18X9.5 +40 will almost be flush with each other, and you'll be happy.

So far in the last 13 months I've bought three different 18" wheel sets (and eyeing my newest set, hehe), different width and tire size combos. Does not make me a expert by any means, but learn from my mistakes.

thanks, i will probably get the 245/35-18 because it is not as tall and closer to stock tire.

Red face I've rated this topic with 5 stars

I've seen the same question regarding 18-inch wheels, and we've been round and round (another pun) for 122 posts on this subject, so let's have people stop here first before starting yet another thread on 18-inch wheel fitments!!!!:o

My $.02

ya know somethng ur right! it does suck seeing the same type questions over n over. this problem plagues every forum. but noone seems to have the smarts to end it.

if the forum was smart enough to make a thread GUIDING ppl about certain applications perhaps you wldnt see this repetition. searches dont work well (especially if theyre using dial up) cuz its not like many of these questions wld allow a ONE word type search. does that make sense? i know cuz ive tried many times in the past.

bottom line is this: there are many ppl out there who have tried or are using several different size wheels/tire combos.......the info may even be w/in the archives here. Make life easier and POST in ONE thread the sizes/offsets and tires that work on a stock car, coil overs, rolled fenders, etc........And CLOSE the thread !!!!!!!!

i think that wld end many repetitive questions!

FOR THE LAST TIME!!!!!!

SLEEPR1,RISHIE or whoever else is qualified!!!:

IYO: What is the BEST tire/wheel fitment on a FD w/ a stock suspension set-up......(BUT.....will maybe consider springs at a later date which will most likely lower the car.)

Please include diameter and widths AND tire sizes.

THANK YOU!

For the last time...

It depends on what you want and what your budget is. Everyone has his/her own idea of what the "best" is, and that will be different for every single FD enthusiast on these boards.

I suggest you think long and hard about what you hope to accomplish with the wheel/tire setup. Then read all 126 previous posts on this topic again.

FWIW, the stock suspension, wheels, and tires are absolutely fine. Weight-wise you won't find a lighter wheel than the stock FD wheel. The stock Expedia S-07s on the '93 R1s, and the Pirelli P-Zeros on the 94-95 R2s, are both phenomenal tires. Perhaps powder-coating the stock wheels would be a good idea for looks and ease of cleaning? You could install 0.25-inch H&R spacers and longer lug studs to push the stock wheels further outboard for a wider track?

There's nothing wrong with a stock-looking FD. In fact, for collectibility's sake it's best to leave the car as stock as reasonably possible (aesthetically, anyway) for value reasons. I think we've gotten so accustomed to seeing outrageous body kits, paint schemes, graphics, and riduculously sized wheel diameters, that we've numbed our sense of aesthetics and have somehow convinced ourselves that our stock-looking FDs need a face-lift or updating.

Personally, I like the stock look. It's why my board name is "SleepR1". My '93 R1 has a benign appearance (if a red FD could ever be considered benign-looking!). Yet my R1 has been modified enough to outperform a truly factory stock FD. This catches most V8-powered American muscle cars, and high-dollar German and Italian machines off-guard both at stoplights and on the racing circuits. My track club members call me "All-Stock" for a reason. Advanced Import Motorsports Tuning staffers (the shop that preps my car) plans to apply a graphic on my rear bumper that reads, "Yeah...It's All Stock" They know I derive satisfaction in having duped a track competitor into thinking my R1 is just a garden variety red '93 Rx7.

Enough about my car. Re-read all the posts on this topic. They might help you figure what the best wheel/tire combo is for YOUR NEEDS.

Sticky Thread

I put a sticky on this thread, as the question of best wheels and tires for an FD have been asked a "million" times!

Hey SleepR1 had a question. I was trying to find out what bumper, side skirts and rims was on the Blue FD on the top of the 5 page of this of this post and below. Well I posted in the 3rd Gen forum and I found out the C-west front bumper and that the rims where the Racing Hart CP-035R. Is this correct? If it is so then the rims on that car are 18" right since I couldn't find any info on 17" versions of that rim. So if you or Hedge Hog could help me out and let me know if 17" version of the CP-035R are out there and how much they cost I'd really appreciate it. If not then how did they fit the 18" in there?

CP-035R

CP-035

Thanks Gun

pretty much any 18" rim can fit on the rx7... It all depends on how you size it. SleepR1 and other people who replied to this topic can help you with the sizing of the rim and tire for the best fit. Personally, I like 18" because they are bigger. 17", is lighter, i guess more for racing.

CP-035R: Only available in 18". The non R is available in the smaller sizes, and is forged as well. If you're not interested in the full polish then I'd go with the standard 035's.

Here's the retail price list:

CP035R
18,8.5 = 680.00
9.0 = 700.00
9.5 = 720.00
10.0 = 740.00

CP-035
17,8.5 = 510.00
17,9.0 = 520.00
9.5 = 530.00

Pretty big difference in price.

18,9.0's front and rear are around $2600.00 plus shipping.

17,9.0's front and rear will run around $1925.00 + shipping

I thought this might help you out a bit. Contact me when you're ready and want your pricing.
