I got my set for my 1st gen for $55 a tire I can say that for that price, it would be impossible to get a better set of tires.

The yokos do seems to take more miles than the sp8000's...thats one thing epinions seemed to show pretty clearly. Plus they have a harder tread rating. I have 25k on my sp5000s and they still seem to be going strong.

One thing it is hard to get a feel for is what the particular tire will do on different cars. I would venture to say that my high review of the sp sport 5000 stems as much from the fact that they are on my heavy a4 quattro as anything. I had a front wheel drive car with what was supposed to be killer pirelli tires...they cupped out so badly in the back due to the light *** end I never bought another pirelli again. That wasnt pirellis fault.

The long and short of it is what coldy13 said---you cant go wrong at this price. They are good tires...a lot of guys race with the intermediates and the es100 is supposed to be the replacement so they gots to be good.

although I respect peoples right to provide flamed answers...it would be nice to have more concrete descriptions as to what specifically was the problem with a set of tires......a datatbase for tires specifically on rexes would be killer.

sleepr1!!! hook us up with a form and lets start a killer thread

I recently went with Hankook Ventus K102: 245-45ZR-16 with a 94W load/speed rating. W is higher than Z rated. W=168mph max speed rating. Got them for 400 bucks including tax, installed with lifetime balancing, free rotations every 5k, free repairs and road hazard warranty!! For the money these tires are great! Very very smooth up to 120+ mph, great in the rain and corner very well dry/wet and very very quiet. They are 240 tread wear rating and use the same "Silica" compound that the $200 ea. Toyo Proxes use. You can get them at Les Schwab tire. Very good tire dealer (the one in Davis, CA is anyway). Also, they checked 4 wheel alignment and since it was all in spec they didn't charge me.
