17x10" CCW wheels, with (I think) 275/40-17 Hoosier DOT R-compounds.

I don't know the rest. I probably have the magazine but I'm too lazy to look for it right now. If someone knows which issue it was, that would make it easier for me to find it. I'm not sure that the magazine has all the info, or that it was correct/current at the time of the test, either.

Incidentally, I saw a rally on the Speed channel and the owner of that car was competing (not in the RX-7). I think his name was something like Wolfgang Hoeck (probably spelled wrong). In my limited SoCal AutoX experience, I think I remember hearing his name at one of the events -- he was said to be very good.

According to the article, the car has Koni double-adjustable coilovers, and an adjustable front antiroll bar. Tires were BFGoodrich g-Force T/A's in a 275/40/17. That's all it lists in the article. The car was setup for ASP.

Koni double-adjustable coilovers: where can you get them?
an adjustable front antiroll bar: is that just fancy for a strut bar?

Tri-Point / ProParts / TrueChoice can get the Konis for you.

Antiroll bars and strut bars are totally different parts. A strut bar connects the tops of the shock towers to stiffen the structure (chassis). Anti-sway bars resist differences in suspension travel at each axle (one front bar, one rear bar). The RX-7 (and perhaps most cars in general) have anti-roll (A.K.A. "sway bars" or "anti-sway bars") bars at both ends from the factory. Tri-Point and M2 make adjustable front bars for the FD. The adjustment allows you to control the stiffness of the bar.

Well, that and a little thing called SKILL. I'm sure there are a lot of people on this board that have mega-buck wheels/tires and suspension systems and couldn't drive their way out of a wet paper bag. Go to a local auto-x or a HPDE, you'll be lucky to see another RX-7 period. I think most people buy that stuff for another line in their sig.

Before the flames start, I'm not insulting anyone who HAS actually tracked their car and I'm certainly not saying that I'm the best driver around -- I'm not, but I am going to regular track events and improving. IMO, people who don't track the car are likely not skilled enough to properly use even the stock suspension and wheels/tires.....

Depends totally on the car, so that's not a true statement. See what I mean about actual track experience....

People don't realize how fast you can make even a real POS go if you know how to drive! I remember the first time we got the Dallas guys together at Motorsport Ranch and Steve Kan was passing single turbo FDs a couple at a time while driving a plain white 4 door stock Civic on race tires!

I can go buy the most expensive rifle in the world and have custom ammunition made for it but that doesn't mean I can hit what I am aiming at worth a crap. Driving is no different.

Yep...I remember my first auto-x when I was getting absolutely spanked by Civics with lowering springs and Falken Azenis...

Not to mention watching Miatas pass Vipers at HPD events....

Track time is what it's all about, which looks pretty bad for the FD. In 6 or 7 auto-x's last year, plus two HPDE, I saw only 5 other FDs, and 4 of those were at ONE of the events....

Makes me wonder why the hell so many people buy coilovers and upgraded brake packages.
