Wilwood Brakes from M2
Tried a search but nothing informative...
Does anyone have this upgrade from m2 (http://www.m2performance.com/Fr_RX-7Products.htm)? It's about that time I replace my rotors and pads and am considering this kit for the fronts. Does this kit have dust seals?
I'm also considering getting the stock rotor replacement kit from the RX-7 store (http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=205&1=326&3=541) . I'm not a fan of the cross-drilled rotors but the kit does include SS brake lines, and Hawk pads.
My FD is a daily driver and I'm interested in autocrossing and perhaps even tracking it (I tell myself this every month...) so I need something streetable and capable of handling more "spirited driving." Also I am on a budget of about $1500 so I can't go too crazy.
Thanks.

Unless you are going to really track the car there is no performance need for bigger brakes. For autox the stock brakes and some aftermarket pads such as Hawk, EBC or Panther work beautifully. Tire Rack sells stock solid faced rotors for less than $60 each; can't beat that.
If I had $1500, worn brakes and planned to begin racing (I'm assuming you have no race experience) sometime in the future I would merely replace the brake hardware with stock parts. No need to spend bucks on big brakes when gaining some experience first is what you really need. Replace your worn parts with stock ones and save the rest of your money for driving schools, race tires and entry fees.

Alright, the M2 kit is out. I checked out the Tire Rack site and the stock replacement rotors for the front are indeed $57 each! But I'll also need rears.
Is the cross drilling so bad that I should shy away from the brake rotor kit upgrade from the Rx-7 store?

Cost was around $200 I think.

Even if you ordered the brakes from M2 you would have to wait for about two years to get them.

No, the Wilwood calipers do not have dust seals. However, my mechanic has been running those brakes for a few years now with no issues with the calipers. I would certainly expect a more frequent rebuild than sealed calipers though....
If you plan on "tracking" the car, and not just auto-x, do NOT get drilled rotors. They WILL crack.
If you are interested in tracking the car, check out www.speedventures.net I've ran with them twice now and they put on a good event. They have lots of events planned this year at Willow Springs and Buttonwillow, two tracks in central to south California.

I've heard about the quality of service of M2 so the responses I've gotten from the others have pretty much ruled out anything from them.
Chaos -
I can't find the rotors you mentioned on ebay - is there another source you know of?
Rynberg,
PM me whn you plan on going to the next speedventure - I'd like to go with someone who's been through the ropes before
I'm leaning toward getting the slotted Brembos front and rear rotors along with the SST brake lines and Hawk pads from the RX7 store. That should leave me enough with entry fees and maybe a helmet. Now the big question is should I get the HP+ or HPS.

Sounds good.
I have had the HP+ and now the HPS on my car. The HP+ pads definitely bit harder. I could easily engage the ABS on the street with them. The HPS don't bite as hard. However, the HP+ do take a few stops to get up to full braking, they squeal under light braking, and they dust like *****. The HPS are pretty quiet and have less dust.
My first trip to the track, I never experienced brake fade with the HPS pads. However, the December Thunderhill event had my brakes fading after a few laps...the better driver you are, the better brakes you need.
I would recommend the HP+ if you are seriously planning on doing several track events this year and can live with the negatives. Otherwise, run the HPS. Or, you can swap pads out at the track and run REAL race pads....

Check here. They are slotted and dimpled rotors. They say the perform the function of cooling the rotors like drilling does, but maintain the strength of the rotor and resist cracking.
