Will 225 width tires fit on 6" wheels?

Just curious... since 205/60/15s are pretty dang hard to find nowadays.

Will 225s fit on 6" (base NA) wheels? (without looking weird and huge)

To be honest it almost seems a bit unrealistic...

What do they look like on 6" rims?

Yeah.
But they will look a bit odd... Sidewalls will stick out.

But they will fit.

Just wondering why you wouldn't go 205/50/15?
But yes 225 will fit, i've seen it done.

Because my speedo would be off by like 11%...

That's not really acceptable IMO.

I hope your not wanting good handling with these. Anytime you extend the tire past the width of the wheel you get worse and worse handling and response. My 225 on my 7'' wheels are a bit on the wide side for me. Id say youd probably be happier with 205's on a 6'', but its your tires.

i found a happy medium with 215 45 17's not much difference in speedo looks good and lots o' rubber. thought of going to 225's but even on my 7" tsw's i think it'd be too much. (plus i got an n/a, i cant outrun my rubber anyways...lol!)

I agree on the outrun he rubber part. My T2 with some BFGoodrich g-Force sports 225/55/16 is nearly impossible to break traction. I can drop it from 5000rpm and only barely get anything out of them... which is a good thing I guess. Id still rather probably have 215's on my 7'' wheels. Something about my 225's just feel sloshy and unresponsive, even though tirerack rates my tires way up top on the list.

It's actually off by about 6.5 percent - which is just enough you might be fooled into thinking your NA has torque. 205/55-15 should be reasonably easy to find (loads of 4 and 6 cyl Mustangs came with that size over the last 20 years), and are only 3% undersized - but even the stock 205/60-15 gets 44 results back at tirerack.com. And 225/50-15 will work on a 6 inch rim (at one point I ran Toyo RA-1s in that size as a track tire), although you won't get the benefit of the full tread because the narrow rim will pinch the sidewalls and lift the outer portion of the tread slightly. That, and whoever has to mount them will have a bitch of a time... As has already been mentioned, putting the 225's on 6" rims will mean you carry the extra weight of the 225 tire, but don't really get much benefit in lateral grip compared to 205's

What are you looking for in terms of tires - high performance, ultra high performance, all season (in various levels of performance)? I'm sure I and other forum members can make suggestions, but it helps to know where to begin.

I don't need new tires, I just wondered if whether I needed new wheels in case I do, because next time I want something wider...

...by the time I need new tires I hope I'll have a job and the cash for some Enkie RPF-1's.

Hmm, turns out that Hankook's ultra-high performance tires come in 225/50/15, which is only off by 3% and it says the useable range of rim sizes are 6 to 8" so... yay!

But they're 100 bucks each... doh.

My G-Force Sports are done for, though.

In my opinion, $100 for a tire is dirt cheap. At work I see people spending $1.6k for a set of 4 light truck tires.

That's because they're retarded rednecks.

Also, mudders last a lot longer than UHP tires...

^^hahaha...Yeah I'd expect a good amount of tire distortion with that wide a tire on a 6" wheel, probably almost cancel out the added grip with the bigger footprint. My car came with 215/50s on my stock 5 spoke GXL's though and it didn't look weird at all. I'd go with 205/215s with a 50/55 sidewall, screw the speedo.

No UHPs even come in 215, much less 215/XX/15.

Also, I noticed that 225/50s are OK from 6-8 but the 225/45s are like 7 to 8.5... so I think the 225/50s should mount up fine on my 6" rims...
