Width or Tire? I need an opinion.

I have 17x9's in the front and 17x10's in the back. My last two tires have been Yokohama A032's (loud) and Toyo Proxes RA-1's. I'm looking to tone it down just a hair and get a little more life out of my tires but really I don't want to lose too much performance. I live in Southern California so rain is not a factor.

I've narrowed it down to a few tires. The main debate in my mind is this. The Yokohama AD07 and Bridgestone RE-01R's seem like the ideal tires, BUT they don't make 275/40x17's! The widest they make are 255/40x17's.

So the question is, do you buy the ideal tire that's a bit smaller, OR go with the the bigger tire but has worse reviews?

Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 - 255/40x17 - Best performance
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R - 255/40x17 - Almost as good with excellent wear and noise levels.
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD - 275/40x17 - Just slightly less dry and way less wet performance and a lot lower comfort levels.
Toyo Proxes T1R - 275/40x17 - I don't know a lot about these, but I liked the RA-1's before they got hard...
Toyo Proxes RA-1 - 275/40x17 - Stick with what works and keep buying lots of tires...

Is the AD07 that much better than the Falken Azenis RT-615 that comes in the sizes you want?

I say stick w/ the RA-1 until the sizes you want come out in R888.

I daily drive and auto-x on RA-1 (for now :P) and they lasted over twice as long as max performance summer tires (10k miles Vs. 4k) because they weren't spinning as much and had useable grip to the cords.

If you need legal tread depth it is another matter as I only get ~4k miles on RA-1 before it is down to the race tread pattern and maybe another ~5k miles before it is down to slick.

The T1-R's aren't in the same league, you'll be disappointed.

Others to consider would be Falken Azenis, Kumho MX and Hankook RS2.
