This is the same game I played with my RSX. These companies give you the run around about these damn wheels. Every brand is the same, Volk, Work, Advan, etc. They don't stock them and you have to wait 3 months. I just ordered something from japan they was delivered to my door in 4 days. Even if these wheels are custom ordered it should take a month for them to make and then they should be here in a week. I don't want to have to settle for some wheels I don't want but this is insane.

Don't buy japanese brand wheels. My BBS are technically made in japan, but the US distributer is a real company with a warehouse and a telephone, so they were there to answer questions, and have wheels to my local dealer in 2 days.

Welp, its really hard to stock all the models, sizes, offsets, colors and bolt patterns - carrying inventory gets expensive. Tire Rack has a great advantage in that... buying power and disposable income = Large on hand stock

These wheel companies produce wheels for all the different markets, and in doing so maybe there is a schedule they do - (XXX Model is only produced once a month or something of the sort) or racing contracts maybe come first .

I dunno - I have had backorders take 22 weeks for some items - 22 WEEKS! Sure it was a smaller company and a dry carbon part... but stillLongest I ever had wheels backordered though is about 3 months.. farily standard

Welcome to the world of custom ordered JDM parts

Ehh,
If you order a custom finish wheel from Volk or someone, then three months I can see. For an off-the-shelf finish/size, there's no excuse. Volk sells enough wheels in this country to at least keep a couple-of-everything stock in the US.

Think about how much money they're losing from people you either want to see an actual wheel before they buy, or find the wait time unacceptable. The extra money to be made in sales would probably cover warehouse space someplace cheap.

YEP! Had a friend who order a "custom" set of Volks and that took 6 months from Japan!
And you can't tell me the shop was being lazy about it - this order went "back channels" and expedited.

3 months for a "normal offset and width" rim is a bit long but not uncommon.
Remember, you're dealing with your local shop, the rim warehouse, possibly the rim manufacturer (in another country or for a "custom offset and width"), and the stupid shipping company.
Too many hands...too many chances of screw-up's.
Unless you can confirm the rims are IN STOCK locally or at least in your country (U.S.?), prepare for a wait...

It usually takes 40-45 days for Rays to produce a "normal" wheel. For my country Greece, the shipping takes 30-40 days. Maybe for the US is 3 weeks.
If you order a special color it takes more. If you order a custom color it takes even more.
There is a small possibility that Rays has wheels in stock, that were cancelled from another customer, but if you come up to this kind of situation, go play the lotto.
So when you are buying wheels that are not in stock or they are custom, plan 3 months ahead.

3 months is a reasonable order leadtime for standard size JDM wheels. When I bought my Volks, I had to wait for 6 months due to custom size to fit with my big break kit.
