I have the Tein Flex and they are working just great. My car rides ten times better then the Koni Eibach combo I had and it is even " nice " to drive down a not so perfect road. Coil overs work great on street cars/part time show/part time drag cars. The Flexes might not be the best for serious Auto X but I think they work very well for the average Guy who uses the car for different events. If You want to go all out then get the EDFC for them. The HKS Hypers are nice also for the same price.

Tein RA on the street is ridiculous. 16kg mm spring is too much almost anywhere.

I'm happy with my Tri-point engineering suspension so far, though i have yet to really test it out.

 

I've been doing a lot of reading on the various coilovers for the FD and came up with the following:

Brand-price-springs(F/R)
HKS-1500-8/8
Apexi-1750-11/11
JIC FLT-A2-1550-12/9
Endless B6-1725-9/8

These 4 were the ones I liked the most or read the least number of bad reviews on. HKS is nice but the spring rates being equal along with the ride height not being independently adjustable from the spring perch turned me off. Still a good kit and the price is great at rotaryextreme. Apexi is a great kit but again equal spring rates and way too stiff. JIC looks like a great kit and gets great reviews in the states but in Japan... Endless is currently my top pick and I'm considering organizing a group buy.

BTW the prices listed are not retail but the lowest I could find.

 

I plan to stay in A Street Prepared. WHat do you recommend/ or what is legal for this class? Thanks.

Tein Flex are whats on my car, don't have a complaint yet... I drive mostly on the street and have had it on the track too. It made the car feel 100% more solid. Makes the stock suspention feel like the daily driver.

 

All the rules are in our Suspension Link List here: SCCA Autocross Rules and Classing (2003) from Jerry Mouton Answers your "What's legal in my class?" questions for autocross. If it doesn't say you can, you cannot!

ASP allows for any shock or spring combo. If it's for racing personally I have no use for a shock that is non-adjustable. Anybody selling FD coilovers with the same spring rates front and rear has some screws loose IMO. Just because a part looks nice and is expensive doesn't mean it will work on the car.

Until you truly understand shocks and how they effect the car I would keep it simple: adjustable Konis with a coilover kit can be done for half the cost of the kits listed. The next step further than that IMO is having the Konis converted to double adjustable along with having them revalved for whatver spring rates your car setup has settled on. The next step further than that is to forget everything you read on this site about "racing" shocls and go talk to Guy Ankeny Racing or Tripoint Engineering about custom Penskes.
