where to buy wheels?????
this sounds like a dumb question, but where are you all getting your wheels? I am looking all over the place and I can't find one vendor that any sort of variety of desirable wheels & tires for sale. Big vendors like the tirerack & wheelmax stock mostly stuff that is way to heavy for my fd. And other more spciality shops, like project D & RMS stock cool wheels like buddy club & volk but are very expensive & do not mount tires. I would think that between the rx7s, supras, gtos, silvias, m3s, porshes, etc there would be an absolute ton of choices out there in 17" & 18" lightweight wheels, am I missing something?
wheels I am have looked at:
the new Enkei - can't remember specific model but it was pretty light
Volk TE37 - I really like it, but it has beed done so many times
SSR Comps - I have been told by reliable sources that they do not make a good street wheel because they break easy
OZ Suppreleggra - light enough?
Racing Hart CP-035 - I really dig them, but who sells them, and at what cost?
Kosei R1 Racers - seem like a nice lightweight low cost alternative, but tirerack only sells them up to 16"
and how come there are a ton of cool wheels out there that only go to 7" width? are there that many more people buying lightweight wheels for fwd cars?
if anyone has any suggestions about vendors or wheels that I should look at it would be greatly appreciated.

We do exactly the same **** as Autoimaging, Shawn is a cool cat. Contact me and let me know what your budget is and such.
I have the first shipment of the new Enkei's coming in this month. THe RPF1. That's what I'm gonna run on the track as well.
We sell all the wheels you've mentioned. I would pick the Enkei's out of all those cause they are less than 16 lbs and won't break your wallet either.

UPS and FEDEX damaged wheels that we mounted tires to so now we just give you a good hookup on the tires to compensate for mounting costs on your end.
Here's the Enkei's:

Here's somewhat of our photo page. The website should be up in a couple weeks.

The rear fitment will stick out too much--unless you roll the rear fender lips--even then that will look GOOFY!
You're better off running 8.5 x 17, 40-mm offset all the way around with 245/40-17s!
Man, I should get paid for all of my great advice

Re: where to buy wheels?????
If you want strength and lightweight, Volk Racing is about your only logical choice. Look at the SE37K, LE37K, SE37A, CE28N, there are many choices in Volks that will suit your FD.
I have a set of 17-inch Comps in 8.5 and 9.5-inch widths with 245/45 and 275/40 Hoosier R3S03s on them. I use them for track-only, but I do tend to run over FIA curbing frequently, and the Comps don't seem to be hurt by my tough driving style on-track?
Racing Hart CP0-35s would be a great choice also, but again they're even lighter than the Comps in the same sizes, so you'd be running the risk of bending those as well...
I've had the Kosei K1s in 8.5 x 16s with 245/45-16 Hoosier R3S03s. They're strictly a race wheel with very low quality paint finishing (chips very easily!)
Yeah I don't know what the deal is with all these 7-inch rim widths. It's IMHO. Why go with 17s or 18s, but have a narrower width than the stock wheels
