Where to buy SSRs

I'm thinking of going with some SSR Competitions in 17 x 8.5 with 48 mm offset and 255/40 tires. I would like to know where I can find the best price on these.

Also, I know that a lot of people use the 17 x 9 with a 45 mm offset on the Integral A2s or the GT1 or GT3 rims, but as far as I can tell, that isn't an option on the Competition. Do you guys think that I'll be OK with my setup proposed above? My FD is lowered with coilovers.

Thanks,
Brian

You could try www.upgrademotoring.com they have SSR wheels. Ask for Glenn Kowta. I just talked to him a few hours ago

I have also seen SSR comps on www.tirerack.com

I'm also a little worried that 8.5 inch rims with 255 tires isn't going to work well. I could drop to 235 or 245 tire width, but I'm trying to get as MUCH rubber down as I can while still having all four tires be the same size.

Maybe I should just go with 17 x 9 GT1 rims?

If you want the Competitions in the same size all around, get four 18x9.5 +50 offset. You can run 265/35 all around with this setup. With your coilovers, you shouldn't have any rubbing issues up front, as long as you are running a reasonable ride height.

If you want 17s, you are looking at 17x9 +45 offset GT-1s with 255/40.

Or you'll have to pick a different wheel.

BTW, get the SSRs from the Tire Rack. They are really excellent to deal with (www.tirerack.com).

Dont' fool around with 8.5 wides SSR Comps. Get 9.5 x 17, 42-mm offset SSR Comps (Tire Rack's rr fitment for '93 to '95 Rx7) with 255/40-17 all around; they'll be fine. Dial in -1.5 degrees camber, and be sure you have thicker sway bars fr/rr. Get the Competition Silver finish! Tire Rack has the best prices on these wheels, bar none. Good luck! Post pics when you mount them on the car!

Hey rynberg, how did you pass me in post count? LOL

Manny, I'm a little worried that 9.5 inch rims will put too much of the tire out near the fender where it can catch... have you run this on your car?

Also, why do I need the thicker swaybars?

Thanks,
Brian

I've run 275/40-17 on 9.5 x 17 up front for a test fit. No rubbing up and down my drive way curb. 275/40-17 was Hoosier R3S03. Dimensions on 9.5 x 17 wheels is 11 wide x 25.3 tall. Larger sway bars limit body roll, and thus keeps fender lips away from the outside tire shoulder blocks from pulling your fender lips down.

Brian...

I just sold my 18x9.5 SSR Comps. With the +50 offset they fit perfectly. You should have bought them.
