Wheel offsets

What are some of you running for offsets on aftermarket wheels?

At what offset gets to the point of rubbing, assuming a lowered suspension (springs or coilovers).

I'm looking at a few different sets for my 87 5-lug. I am looking at some 16s and some 17s, but I want at least a small lip. I am not gonna stretch the tires, so I'm going with nothing wider than a 8 front and 9 rear (probably 8s all around). All of my building experience is with the 1st gens, so these things I am having to learn. Thanks for your input.

I think 25 to 35 should work with 8s. someone correct me if i'm off.
I know 35 looks good with 7s

I have 17x7s with 42 offset, but they are too far in. When I get new wheels, i'll get 17x7 or 8 with a 35 to 30 offset

215-45-17 +40 in the front and 225-45-17 +40 in the rear(both 17x7). Shoulda went with 235's in the rear though, too late for me.

Do you happen to have a pic or two of your +25s? This was the offset of the wheels I am most interested in.

NM...I found your cardomain page. You've made lots of nice progress on the car. The car I just bought looks about the same.

tire diameter plays as big of a role in tire rubbing (in the front) as offset does.
i had 17x8 30mm w/ 235/40/17 tires- they only rubbed when hitting bumps while turning.
i now have 245/40/17 all around and coilovers, with no rubbing.
ya gotta think about it- if you turn the wheel, it doesnt matter what offset you have- the tire still sticks out.
oh in the back, 245/40/17 30mm offset is perfect- it just barely clears the inner fender lip when i lower it way down.
